In-Dash Android Tablet Setup: BIG screen, fully configured, 4G-LTE connectivity.

I'm selling the Android tablet setup that was the headunit in my truck. It's served me well. The tablet is a Google Nexus 9 with both WiFi and 4G LTE connectivity (it will work with a sim card from ANY carrier). This means you can stream music while driving without using your phone as a hotspot. Just to be completely open, if you aren't familiar with the Android OS or you can't keep a device current; this is NOT something you should consider. It's a very DIY oriented setup that, although VERY polished, requires some Android user knowledge.

The tablet requires a little more lateral room than the stock opening so you'll have to trim a bit of your internal dash but it's not anything you can see once it (or any other stereo) is installed with a normal dash kit. 15 minutes with the dremel and you'll be fine.

Please keep in mind I'm selling this "as is" and I do NOT intend to support the end user. I'll have the tablet setup so it works perfectly. The buyer will need to sign in with their Google account and download any apps they want in addition to what already exists on the tablet. Happy to help via PM or phone to get you setup initially but I do NOT intend to be tech support indefinitely. I will also include a valid system state BACKUP on the device so if you FUBAR the device or config you can always roll back to that clean backup.

Price is $400 including the custom dash mount and USB connectors.

Very cool. I've always been intrigued with a tablet as a headunit. GLWS. Were you ever able to run a backup camera from it?

 

Thanks! It's basically a 100% unrestricted system. You can do literally anything. No legal nannies keeping you from extra features and functionality. It's bliss.
