Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our faith in God, as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on "In God We Trust" to stay on American currency. Please send this to every Christian you know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right away, before NBC takes this off their web page. The Poll is still open so you can vote.

This is not sent for discussion, if you agree forward it, if you don't, delete it.

By me forwarding it, you know how I feel. I'll bet this was a surprise to NBC.

If??? Have you not seen a Platypus, 3-toed sloth, or read Chris 4x4s latest adventures. If you believe in creationism, there's your proof that the creator is a toker...

I like how it's listed in the Faith section and 80%+ say keep it. Wouldn't have guessed that result given the section it's in.

Thanks for posting this. At least I got to register my distaste for this slogan. Since i don't believe in a god, I do feel it's an attempt at establishing religion. It's sad that the religious people can't see that.

It's not as if I want the currency to state that there is no god. Just drop all mention of god from our currencies and let us make up our own minds on the subject.

Nope, I just don't agree with the slogan. I'm not militant about it. I skip the under god part of the pledge.

The very history of the how it became law to include "under god" on currency and in the pledge shows that it was done to establish the US as a religious country (as opposed to the the godless Soviets). I see it as those who support keeping "under god" are opposed to the constitution. This is similar to how I feel about gun control laws, state censorship (why can't you say Fuck on TV?), etc.

So you can see then how putting Under God as the National Motto is an affront to those who choose not to have a religion?

Well, I feel they are wrong. I accept that I am in the minority. Maybe someday the supreme court will rule on it (hopefully after a few new appointments).

My feeling is it does very little harm, and therefore I put very little effort into getting it removed. However it's like the stupid laws prohibiting certain, now common, sexual acts. Even though the laws do little harm, because no one enforces them, they should still be removed from the books because its wrong to go to jail for getting a BJ.

Why the hell should we just send this to Christians?

Most reasonable, intelligent americans regardless of religious preference think it's a stupid idea to change the motto. It's not like the saying is specific to a particular religion so it actually fits most faiths. I don't know of any major religions in which the followers DON"T trust their god(s) Most of the atheist's I know aren't bothered by it and the couple I do that think the motto should be removed are pretty hard for me to describe as reasonable or normal in a lot of ways.

Ideally it should have rainbow stripes with a yellow field of 50 green smilies. There. That shouldn't offend anyone. :humble:
