A good friend of my grandfather invaded Normandy. He's a crazy old bastard but I love him and love listening to some of the stories he tells about the war.

 

My great Grandfather was a field medic in WWII, the man was wounded in action and turned down two Purple Hearts, idk if it was out of stubbornness or pride, but he passed away when I was just little so either way RIP to all those who have risked it all to protect this beautiful country we live in!

 

I have nothing but reverence for those men. The courage and bravery they healed is humbling. The fact that all to often people forget the sacrifice of men like this terrible. My grandpa was a shot down over germany and became a POW. Its because of him and those who have fought and still fight to protect the free world, that I am proud to be an American.

 

My grandma gave me my great great grandfather's wings from his Army Air Force days. He was shot down over France during the initial raid. She decided it was a good thing for me to have seeing how I am the only one in the military.

 

Those guys gave the ultimate sacrifice, God bless all those who lived and died. My grandpa was in Pearl Harbor, he talked about cleaning up all the bodies

 

I have my grandfathers GI Bible from WWII, when they were made with a metal front to be worn over the heart as a kind of armor. It's now served over Japan, China, and Iraq in two wars. RIP to the fallen.
