    Hey guys,

I cant find anyone that makes performance off road lower control arms for my first gen tacoma anymore that isn’t just stupid expensive. Does anyone have the CAD files for any lower control arms for a first gen tacoma. I’m gonna slap the parts into a cnc machine and weld them together. Put some bushing in them and call it a day! Any help would be great thank you:)!

I have upper control arms and my shocks are half way extended front end wise I want to fully extend them and that just won’t work with stock LCAs. New back shackles and another leaf spring are on the way to match the hight in the front as well!

No one on here unless they have something they haven’t been sharing with the class. Immediately I’m a little suspicious of why you think you would be able to assemble some lowers from CNC without a jig unless you plan on making them from billet or you aren’t using CNC but laser / plasma and indexing them completely, which even then I’d assume most would want a jig to confirm consistency. And if you’re building a jig that means you either measured out the lowers or built one off your stock arm which is a lot of the work in the process of just making your own arms measured by hand.

While I’m pretty skeptical, one of the guys that came on here saying he wanted to build his own kit ended up with this full one off rig:

At the moment I have access to all sorts of machines threw my collage i’m currently attending welding school and my instructors let me use the machines and tables after class. CNC,JIG, TIG, MIG, STICK, all the machines welders and goodies so it’s pretty simple getting them put together i just a blueprint or a CAD file some base model so I can put them together r.

Smart to make use of your resources but I’d bring them one of your arms and have them guide you through steps to make a replacement.

College youth and enthusiasm is great. Do not gamble your life on home made suspension parts no matter how competent you think you might be at this point.

Anyone who had gone through the process of drawing up such a thing probably won’t give them away for free.

    This.

And even if the resources are available, a welding school will teach you the basics.

Metal fabrication is on a whole different level.

If I had any files for any homebrew products, I wouldn't be so quick to share them as I probably put hard earned time/money into creating said files.

Said files are available for purchase for a few bucks but it’s still a couple hundred cheaper than buying pre fab parts. Especially because me or one of my professors could throw down some kick ass tig on some good steal and they would hold up pretty good! Either way said files found are only for a second Gen i cannot find first gen tacoma LCA files. Does anyone know if the those suspension comments are the similar
    ?

Yeah that’s what I thought you had intended to say in your first post but some guys think you’re looking for aftermarket control arm files.

Like I said oem files don’t exist outside of Toyota unless you’ve got access on a website none of us have access to. If you can tig I’d be surprised if you aren’t able to fab a jig from your oem lower and build it in CAD from your measurements off your jig.

Well if your welding skill isn't up to speed, especially with TIG, then I wouldn't trust to fabricate an essential part of your own truck.

TIG applies a lot of heat, and for those that lack experience, could mean a much larger heat effected zone. This can damage the integrity of the metal one is welding on and cause it to become brittle. That's why you'll see some failed items break just above or below the weld, due to the weakened material near the weld.

You'll get more out of taking your stock arm and building a jig to fixture your new ones - I'm not sure what the scope of the class your taking is, however fabricating just about anything will benefit from experience fixturing a project like this. All you'd really need that the shop will probably have is a press brake to bend sheet metal and a band saw (not necessary, saves time though) or plasma. Here's a good channel for fabbing suspension components.
