Other than being way too into all things Toyota, I'm also a big cast iron cooking fanatic. For my birthday coming up, my girlfriend got a badass Lodge cast iron "wedge pan". Anyone ever used one of these before? I'm excited to try my Tex-Mex cornbread recipe, but I'd love to make something other than cornbread in it as well. If anyone has one, I would love to hear about what you use it to make.

That and scones. I ran across a pretty good sounding carrot cake recipe earlier today.

I honestly just made this thread for profiling purposes, to find out who would suggest quiche :luvya:. But in all honesty, quiche sounds like a great use of that pan. I used to have a crustless quiche recipe that would be perfect for that. In that same vein, a breakfast casserole would be good too.

Yeah, now I know what I'm making first. How do you like that grill pan in the background?

It's Ok. Don't seem to pull it out that often. Not a Lodge.

I think that's just the thing about specialty cookware; it's awesome for those one or two recipes, but otherwise not. This wedge pan is actually my first Lodge. I've got a 10" and 12" pan, both made by Victoria, a company from South America. The first was a gift, but I was happy with the quality so I bought another. But I'm happy to have a Lodge piece now. I'm looking at getting a Lodge dutch oven eventually. As much as I'd like a seasoned one with a lip for coals, most of my cooking is done in the kitchen, so it'll likely be an enameled pot.

I have the little lodge mini skillets meant from cookies. My wife bought them for me when we were in a Lodge store in Pigeon Forge a few years back. Makes freaking awesome deep dish cookies that we put ice cream and caramel sauce on to serve. :)

We've picked up a few of the mini's. They do a onetime holiday edition run every year. And with my wife being something of a Christmas nut, they make for a neat stocking stuffer.

I'm a Christmas nut also.

We picked up I think 6 of them I think it is. I always look around their odds and end section every time I go in there. Next trip (next summer) I want a big dutch oven.

I read the history behind those somewhere. They were actually created in the Depression era as something that they could sell for cheap and keep the doors to the foundry open. They also made door stops to literally keep the doors open.
