I purchased a nice Masterlock but have discovered it does not fit. The newer Tacoma receiver is about 1/4" too wide. I do remember somebody mentioning this before but for some reason I was not able to find the thread.

Is anybody using a relatively nice locking pin that fits the yota receiver? If so, what brand(s) and where can I get it. I'm a tad gun shy now...don't want to go spreading my wealth across the www only to find out I'm collecting useless hardware.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I have a 2005 with factory hitch and had the same problem. I even e-mailed and called Toyota several times about it. They didn't seem to know or understand what I was trying to explain to them, go figure. One Toyota guy actually told me to just use a slid in pin with no locking ability. I guess the crime rate in his neighborhood is pretty good. I finally bought a nice stainless one, MasterLock maybe? and then I took a steel hole cutting bit and shaved out a little of the outer layer of the hitch, mine is a "two layered" hitch frame around the pin hole. It works fine and it doesn't take out that much of the steel to actually weaken it. I've towed stuff fine with it ever since.

Im reviving an old thread.. so I too bought a master lock barbell for the hitch pin.. and found it was too short. I just had a pleasant conversation with MasterLock's corporate HQ, and they are aware of the issue. There is now a longer barbell lock in production, but it is not widely available yet. They are sending me one.. so I'll let you guys know what model it is when it arrives. Apparently the same issue that the Tacos and Tundras have is apparent on the new Ram and F250s as well.

Check out a bike shop, I work at one and we carry about 3 brands, quality pieces.

    Thule
    Saris
    and some others

I think I have a "bulldog" one, it was cheap and works/looks great.

Well MasterLock (a name I know and trust) is sending me one for free.. a new product that really isn't available yet. So I'll try that one first.. they said it would get here next week. :)

I bought a master lock pin at Lowe's and it fit fine... Hadn't heard there was a problem with them fitting.

I got the new unit in from Masterlock today, and it fits great. The model is 1469DAT. It has a 3 1/4" long shackle that is 5/8" diameter with a 10,000 lb capacity rating. It is is the standard 'barbell' on one side.. and a 90 degree angled barbell on the locking side. Fits great!

I found a masterlock 1469DAT at O'Reilly's. The package specifically says "extended length". It was $24.99 and it fits.

I knew they were going 'in to production' but I know Master Lock said they just aren't widely available yet. That lock does fit perfectly though. :)

    Reviving this thread once again.

I'm looking for an extended hitch pin lock (like the masterlock 1469DAT ) with a keyed alike 7/8" coupler lock.

Anyone know where I can get one?

I actually found out that etrailer.com has the "keyed alike" feature. It'll come out to ~$44

Dang it, I just found out my Masterlock won't fit my truck either. Guess I'll give Masterlock a call & see if they'll send out a replacement since I already through the packaging away & Wal-Mart won't take it back...

Masterlock wouldn't send me the correct size lock like they did some of you guys :( I now have a $23 paperweight...
