I haven’t seen a thread on this yet and maybe it’s because there’s been no demand for it. But I know everyone here comes here to find new ways to spend money…so I’ll share lol

We recently had a baby boy and that of course means minivans. While we were looking at siennas, Pacifica’s and Odyssey’s one feature that stood out was the baby camera (which goes by various names). I loved the idea. Now while minivans are in limited stock and high demand at the moment I was thinking maybe I can just add one to the taco.

I ended up going with the beat sonic tic-02 ( https://www.beatsonicusa.com/tif02.html) screen mirroring system which allows for screen mirroring (cabled not wireless) for my iPhone. This also came with an available camera input! Opportunity strikes!

I purchase a nakita (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09BFBCPB8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title) camera since they are all the rave and fabbed up a head rest bracket to try to keep the install as clean as possible. I’m not a big fan of the generic baby cameras that have the wrap around the headrest mount or sticky tape. Then I ran the wiring through the seat along the door seals and to the head unit.

I’m just finishing up the wiring but here’s a sneak peak at the mount installed.

I like the way it turned out and the fact the camera itself was pretty cheap (ignoring the screen mirroring cost) in line with the current competition on Amazon but it’s built into the head unit and native commands (hang up button long hold to flip to the screen mirroring or baby camera).
