I have a 2006 tacoma and the fuel guage is reading 1/8 when empty. Any ideas?

I have the same issue and currently live with it. Mine is empty at half.
The entire fuel pump and float assembly has been replaced, along with the fuel door and cap. (Other owners)
    Sensor tests exactly to spec.
Also ran the guage rest procedure for other models. No joy

Best guess from other resources is a bad ground in the instrument panel.
I have tested everything else in the system.

Next effort is to remove and reinstall the dash cluster on theory a connection is poor , while looking for how it grounds.
Manual is poor, as it doesn't say where anything actually is.
