I had an analog one in my 1973 CJ-5. It said I was dead many times.

I use the inclinometer all the time with my RTT - it's just as accurate as the bubble levels I have on the back and side of the roof rack, but I don't have to get out of the truck to check level and then get back in to adjust over and over. I just pull up to where we're going to camp, adjust the level by driving until we're flat and pop the tent.

My '16 XLT has it; it's handy for backing a trailer through a tight spot because you can do a quick read and check your front wheel angle at a glance, but that's the only time I ever use it.

I've put it on a couple time, never used it as a gauge of whether or not to attempt something. It's just there.

I guess lol I got the pro trailer backup assist too so as long as my stickers are in the right place and the system is set up, I put it into reverse and let the truck do the work :D Probably the coolest option I've seen in a while, besides having a moonroof that spans the entire cabin with no pillar in the middle blocking the view. I literally haven't found a single thing to complain about on my 17
Edit: let's make sure people understand lol, this is my 17 Ford F-150, not a 3rd gen :spy:

I miss that from the 2nd Gens cause you could turn off the side airbags when wheeling.

I've maxed out roll (30 degrees) on the end portion of Hell's Revenge in Moab by picking a bad line. From that point on, I've used it as a reference point to calm myself down. Anything past 15-20 and you start to feel like tipping over, so I switch to the inclinometer and tell myself I'm alright for similar situations. Obviously, it doesn't apply in all situations, but for low speed crawling it's a peace of mind.

Had a carpenters inclinometer on the dash of a small bucket truck with no sponsons for one of my service men. If you got the truck on too much of a side angle and ran the bucket out on the down side, the truck would fall over.

I suppose that might be a bad thing. lol

I'm probably way over confident in a JLG highreach. Genies still make me nervous though, but I can make a JLG dance for me! As much sway as a 185 may have I'm still confident and comfortable operating one. There's a kind of feel for it you have to learn, it's cool to watch the movement wave travel through the arm when you bump the turret rotate stick.

The backup assist would probably have been handy, but I've been backing them since I was a kid so I'm pretty good at it now. But since I don't have it the wheel angle readout is nice to glance at rather than sticking my head out the window, lol. I was interested in the Lariats, but the XLT I ended up with had more of the features I was interested in (vinyl floors, payload and towing packages, integrated trailer brake, etc) than any of the Lariats they had on the lot (remote start, giant-ass moonroof, heated seats, etc).
The only complaint I have with mine is that the bed sides are too tall for me to reach over and touch the bed floor, but that's more a problem with me than with the truck

Really? I've found it's not very sensitive or accurate. Can hit a slight uphill or downhill grade and the needle doesn't even move. Certainly not sensitive enough to use to find level ground on my truck. Can get better result just by the feel. I agree that's it's pretty worthless for all except maybe the die-hard off roaders.
