Some of this I've solved by turning the vsc off and using it in auto lsd. This solves it between take off and 30mph. It is irritating having the lights on and off constantly.

I also noticed that if I'm running the ac and leave the vsc on, if i take off from a stop into traffic and the AC compressor kicks in at the same time I'm turning on the highway it will buck, lug then jerk trying to take off, usually leaves me thinking I'm gonna get killed.

If I'm at a busy intersection i turn off the ac to keep that from happening.

I pretty much drive with vsc off always, did this in my tundra as well.

Manual specifically states not to drive for long period of time with the alsd engaged.

I’ve probably had over 50 vehicles in my life and all of them had their good and bad days to one degree or other.

Yeah and just allow them to govern my engine output to keep me in line?

I'm not out there spinning the tires so it's not hurting anything.

Since when does Toyota recommend top tier gas? Waste of money on a Tacoma.

A little off topic but have you been to those plants? I’ve walked the line at the San Antonio plant and it is far from fully automated. There are certain stations that are automated or semi-automated, but there is still many hands involved with the assembly process.

That's why it's a theory, it was only what I have read in several articles regarding Toyota recent (giant) investment in building new plants and updating existing ones.
Edit... plus Toyota does not quality check the parts they purchase from outside vendors. They rely on the vendors to do that, hence the reason for the crank position sensor recall, the diff recall.

Fair enough. Just wanted to point out what I saw. I cant speak to Baja, but I would assume they may use even less automation due to the decrease in labor costs associated with that plant.

As for the OP, all of the issues you mentioned sound related to ECU logic. The factory ECU logic is interesting, to say the least.
