Brand new here, but my wife has a 01 Tacoma xtra cab 4x4 TRD with the 3.4 v6. The front drive shaft outer sleeve rotted and the inner sleeve rusted up. We pulled the drive shaft out and went to put in the replacement and the bolt pattern on the new one is different. According to Rockauto they have had no problems like this before and seam to think our truck is the odd ball. They have been very professional about it and offered to pay for shipping and a full refund. My questions for you guys is did the tacos have different transfer case/front diffs? Below are the pictures of the new and old driveshafts

Can't answer you question but I wonder if there was a change up maybe yours was a late 01 with a 02 and up diff are the p/n's the same for a newer model shaft lets say for conversation sake a 02?

I can only think that if you can't find a re manfactured take it to a drive line shop and rebuild it. Maybe what you received was packaged wrong, just a thought, ..........nothing is easy anymore there's always some bullshit to deal with.
