With this mod, Will i have to cap on the deck plate every time it rains??- the article says it may cause water damage to the engine...

Depending on how hard it rains, I would say No. I ran mine open for a couple years, and only closed it when off roading. BUT, it doesnt rain much in AZ.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
No. The stock opening is in the fender well. If you go mudding or traverse large, deep puddles, then I would put the plate back in.

Ah, now I'm not sure if I want to do the mod b/c it would be a pain in the ass if i needed to cap it every time it rained....FL is a rainy place too esp in the summer.

nevermind...bought all the supplies today. I'm doing it first thing tomorrow morning!...A guy from pepboys suggested getting a dryer vent duct hose, attach it air tight to the deck plate opening, and route it to face the wind under the truck...it would act like a ram air intake...I think Ill try that too...it seems to make sense.

Wow...the acceleration feels a bit quicker and smoother..nothing dramatic but i can feel I have to brake more (prob cause I'm going faster!) At first my check engine light turned on (is this normal?) it went away and has not come back so far...

Sometimes the light comes on. Just keep an eye to make sure it doesnt come on again.

All mental. You may get more air into that engine but you won't get out more then 3-4 hp and none of them bellow 2500 rpm. Your light will come ON again. Specially if you do any high altitude.

A 4" gave my 2.7 6 more hp. 2 about 3000, and it ramped up from there. I definatley felt it.

not to bust anyones balls. intakes exhuasts and all the other mods can help open the door to higher power numbers but cars with the EFI need a programing to unlock the potential the car has with them.
