I keep mine on the cooler where the beer actually is. If the cooler is by the camp fire, why walk to the truck to open it

We don't play in the mud and I normally drink cans anyway but hey, it's a conversation piece.

Yeah, I';m looking for investors, too. It must get close though buying a shell, reinforcements, racks and a tent~

Do a search, there are several people on here who've built a couple of different types of support structures inside their shells. Also do a search on expeditionportal.com under the rooftop tent section.

I searched a bit on here but wasn't able to come up with much. I'll dig deeper though if the threads are there. And thanks for the tip about expeditionportal. So many other good forums these days and I always just find myself on TW.

I have a leer 100xq on my 05. Its a good shell. Have a thule towers on rails with a 2 person 95 lb rtt no problems. i did reinforce the clamping power to the bed rails. The first time i drove around with the rtt on the shell, i noticed the shell moved back a little on the bed. More likely just needed to tighten the standard clamps but went ahead and got extra clamps anyway.

Good info! Thanks for the pics as well!

I've been looking at the iKamper Skycamp. I really like the Hardshell popup aspect, and the ease of setup. Comes in around $3500 so a bit cheaper than many of the other hard shell tents I've seen. I also think minimal setup/takedown will make the wife more open to coming along

Absolutely. Expensive but you get what you pay for. A good option for ease of use as well as being more aerodynamic on top of a roof/camper shell.

Static rating is what you can put on the roof when the vehicle is static, not moving. For example, your tent plus you inside it. Dynamic rating is the load you can drive with. That’s the rating the manufacturers really care about. Typically, that would be the weight of the rack, tent plus anything you keep in the tent like bedding.

So if i have 200lb dynamic mfg rating. Chances are i can store more say like 400 when wheeling or camping? As long as its evenly distributed throughout the basket on my cap?
