    How different will the 2018 Ranger be to trucks already sold globally? I would be concerned buying into year one of a next generation product.

    Nobody knows yet, there isn't any real public info out there.

    More than likely it will have ecoboost engine options (4 cyl and 6) though which, if you look at the current explorer, gets 365 HP at 5500 RPM and 350 lb-ft of torque at 3500 RPM for the V6.

    Transmission could vary. They could keep it the simple 6 speed or put in the new 10 speed that they and GM worked on together. Its tough because if they make the ranger too appealing it will take away from F150 sales which have a higher profit margin.

    Theoretically though if they put that 3.5L V6 Ecoboost in the Ranger with the 10 speed auto, it would absolutely demolish the rest of the mid size market performance and mpg wise.

    It will be very interesting to see what they come out with.
