So is it possible to fit 2 batteries in the stock location? I already have one and im not sure if i can fit another of the same kind.. especially the AGM one

Just threw the fridge in the truck. Impromptu trip to explore Arches NP through Sunday. We'll see how it does since the truck will be mostly parked during the days! Not going to attempt to divide frozen and cooled stuff, just cooled stuff.

 

Its a PITA trying to get the truck loaded up from 4th flr apt! At least I got plenty of exercise running up and down the stairs. Of course, it looks like my OBW hose sprang a leak at the distribution block. Probably need to fix that since I didnt want to carry a separate water container, threw a few warm gallons in there.

In short, yes 14 gauge wire is fine.

I'm personally going to run 12 gauge wire myself. The only reason for this is because of something called voltage drop. While the difference will be very miniscule, the larger wire means there will be less voltage drop at your 12v socket. Meaning if you run 12 gauge versus 14 gauge your fridge will see closer to the actual voltage of your battery.

 

I ran 10 gauge to the RR side of my bed. You need to think about the distance you're going too to keep the power consistent without having voltage drop issues

 

Voltage drop could actually work to your advantage if you think the low voltage cut-off setting on the fridge is too low. It would mean your fridge would cut back in slower though.

 

One of my automotive teachers explained voltage; amperage and resistance to me like thinking of a garden hose, the bigger the hose, more water (voltage), the thinner the hose, more resistance and the longer, harder to get the same pressure as if it were shorter (current, amperage).

 

I like that analogy.. I still need to get a second battery but i figure this is something i'll need to account for.

Anyone make use of the mounting plate yet? I see the 4 corner holes but I'm confused as to how to use them. Remove the mount, drill some holes with it as a template, reinstall the mount then thread a bolt? Why install the mount for us. I'm obviously overthinking this. Pictures please!

 

The mounting plate came installed for ease of shipping. A page or two back @Leppz posted some pictures of how the plate mounted to the fridge. Basically a sort of quick release system.

I think the best use of the plate (beyond building a custom slide) would be to bolt it to the back of a seat, so you can use the seat as normal, but when you flip the seat down you can quickly and easily attach the fridge without straps or whatever.

As far as I can tell though, the general consensus is that the mounting plate is kind of silly.

 

It seems like the fridges and mounting plates shipped in a few different ways. Seems like some were shipped in two separate boxes, some with plate attached to fridge, and some with plate unattached but in same box (like mine). I haven't even looked at the plate other than taking it out of the box to unpack the fridge.

 

I will be mounting mine to the back of the seat this weekend. I will get some pics.

 

I am a wiring boob, would you run this straight to your battery with a fuse or should there be another level of protection?

I'm in the same boat, just not consider myself a boob, LOL. I really need directions on how to wire my frigde to the Tundra. It happens that my truck doesn't have the 12 volt adapter in the bed, so I have to figure out a way to install one. Any suggestions??? And BTW, Fed Ex confirmed the delivery of the fridge to my Freight Forwarder. So hopefully it will be here in 1 week!!!
