The hinge pictured there is for the latch, not the lid.

You mean using the latch as a hinge? I suppose you could, but I only needed to open it one direction. And I was to do that, i would maybe find another latch (because this only snaps to the lower part with one screw/button), and you would want to use two on each side.

And then there would not be an easy way to have it stay open at a certain angle for opening it both ways.

Well I'd like it behind the drivers seat, but have my wife in the passenger seat be able to open it while driving. It also needs to be opened from the other side if I go directly to the back drivers side door. I forgot about that little cord that holds it open though.

Yeah mine is accessible from all areas.

Mounted in the rear passenger seat, can be easily opened from both front seats, the driver rear seat and outside passenger rear door. Only place it would be difficult is reaching through the rear pass through cab window.

Oh yeah. That makes sense. I had mine like this cause I wanted to leave the bigger seat open for a passenger.

Then I'd say just leave it hinge like it came and that should work for everything.

I'll figure something out. I don't like having to hold it open because it won't open all the way. Time to get creative :sawzall:

Turns out I can have it sideways
So now do you think I'll be a problem having the vents like this?

Plenty of space there. Curious if/how you are going to secure it there?

Not a 100% sure yet. Still got some experimenting to do.

Just spent a week in the Big Bend area with my fridge. Drinks stayed cold and I didn't need a jumpstart. Daytime temps were around 105 all week. Before you get too excited, I decided to run a optima gold top incase the factory battery wasn't up to the task.

Now it's time to finish the DIY bed slide.

Hey @squint0241 , I'm planning on buying the Arkpak 715 and stuffing the biggest battery it can accommodate, do you think with it's dc charging capability I can leave the pak connected to the dc receptaccle in the back of the Tundra's center console and run the Fridge full time??? Thanks buddy!!!

Okay so this is a problem for me.. Ive routed wiring to the bed of my truck for the 12v plug.. but it keeps disconnecting itself! As in it just gets loose from day to day driving, over bumps, etc. Do you guys have a solution for this?

I am also worried about this occurring. I mounted two dual USB/12V outlets in the bed and I noticed when installing them that the cables could easily disconnect due to their weight when hitting bumps. So far all I have done is squeezed the female end of the connection slightly to make more difficult to disconnect. It has been a few weeks and neither of them have separated. Next step will be to zip tie some extra slack in the wires to the back of the outlets.

The the socket is coming loose or the plug is coming loose from the socket (no connection)? Blue Sea Systems manufacturers a 12v socket that pairs with a plug which twist locks into the socket to prevent this from happening.

Edit-reread your posts and it seems I misinterpreted. Maybe better quality connectors or solder them on. You can always cut them if needed.

I plug in the OEM 12v plug into my 12v socket, so its the plug coming loose from the socket (no connection). I guess the only route to go is with the blue sea systems.

Well...basically you would be charging your Arkpak battery off the truck battery with that setup. The constant drain off the truck battery for an extended time might not be good for the vehicle battery. Although it's almost like a dual battery setup except you're only charging the truck battery off the alternator. Not sure of the long term effects. A better setup would be to run them in parallel off the alternator, but that would require wiring into the cab for that setup off the main harness. They make a controller for that though that monitors both batteries I know. You have options, but I don't want to say yes. Personally, I run mine as a standalone pre-charged. Thanks for asking, but weigh your options wisely...:)
