Just curios if any of you go 4x4ing around the Indian valley area in lake county off highway 20. I’ve been there to Indian valley lake numerous times fishing. A remote primitive area. I’ve seen lots of rugged rutted 4x4 roads and trails leading off from Walker ridge road which is the main road leading into Indian valley lake. Looks like some of the off side roads maybe a little challenging. Anyway just wondering what you all think.

I go up there every once in a while to camp and drive around. I mainly go north of Indian valley towards Stonyford and Little Stony Campground to wheel around some of the ridge trails and hill climbs since I'm more familiar with that area. The reservoir is quite a bit higher than a few years back so its nice to drive up next to the water and set up camp for the night. Not many trails are tough but I would be a little cautious about going down some of the hills around there with the recent rain and mud, it gets pretty slippery on some of that clay and sliding down some of those ridges wouldn't be fun.

Nice pics of Indian valley lake. The lake definitely looks a lot fuller than it’s been in years. I’ve fished and camped up there numerous times. I just like the rugged remoteness of the area. Have just never taken off on any of the side roads. One thing I know from experience is that there are a lot of rattle snakes around there. I’ve seen several and my dog got bit by one several years ago so I no longer take him when I go.

Great area I go up there a lot. If you drive past the boat launch ramp a couple miles there is a stream crossing and you can access Mendocino National Forest from the south, some nice secluded camping up that way as well.
