Louisville Ky/Southern Indiana Tacoma owners; Your attention please!

Looking at a possible trip north to Badlands ORP this Saturday. Anyone interested post here or PM me. Got a group from Northern Indiana that'll be there. So far, I'm the only one from "down south".

Also planning a 2 or 3 day trip to Black Mountain (Harlan Ky) Oct 21/22/23 if interested. May be an epic adventure!

And.....In the initial planning stages of a trip to Dirt Devil in Tennessee. No time frame (yet) This is a simple, easy trail, "Subaru Friendly" as a friend put it. Could be run in 2wd when conditions are right. Great trip for stock vehicles or newbies. Thinking late August to late September time frame.....still open for discussion though. I've got a few 1st timers talked into going, along with a couple disabled vets that aren't up to anything too challenging but want to get in the woods. Would like to make this a yearly event.

Again, post here OR PM me if interested.

My "plan" is to make this an annual event of sorts. Not limiting it to Toyota's, but making it a TW meet. The dates SHOULD coincide with peak fall colors, as well as being the week after their FALL CRAWL weekend. Last year, we spent 9 hours on the trail and didn't hardly make a scratch in the place. The trail from Putney campground was washed out and almost impassible to anything short of an ATV last year. I understand it's been repaired and is now a decent "truck trail" again. I'm hoping to make the Saturday part of the trip into a Putney to Evarts and back again round trip, with Friday and Sunday to do some exploring. Our 9 hour ride was Evarts, about 2/3rds of the way through, then double back on a different trail, back to Evarts. We stopped for about an hour for lunch, so figure 8 hours of driving.

There's a good many of the newer trail systems that I haven't visited yet, but a good many that I have, and a BUNCH of awesome trails from back in the day that are now closed (ie...."Livingston" near Wildcat [AKA "Cromers Ridge"], "Little Africa" outside of Paoli Indiana, etc....) Harlan was hands down the best trails and most fun I've EVER had 4 wheelin'. Just the shear miles of trails makes it a great place. It attracts a lot of rock crawlers, highly modded Jeeps and such, plus a ton of SXS's and ATV....There's a lot to watch in addition to the fun we were having. The day we were there, we saw probably 500 or more 4 wheel vehicles......and just us 3 Toyota's....You wouldn't believe the stares and comments we got.....especially when we passed some of the die hard Jeepers all the way back in the farthest reaches of the trails. They just couldn't comprehend how we got "stock trucks" that far into the place. (It really wasn't that difficult....)

    SO FAR....Only real commits are me and a friend who's driving a Jeep XJ. (4" lift/winch/etc...) I'd love to see 10 to 12 vehicles/15 to 20 people.

Bluegrass Taco, did you make it to the Badlands? I went last week with Indiana Overlanders facebook group and plan to go again on August 14th. Everyone here is invited as well.

Badlands is on my list. Wonder if this could be a day trip? Might be able to sneak out of the house for something like that :spy:

Day trip it is! We could drive up there in about 3 hours from Louisville. I'm trying to get August 14th clear (Sunday) If so, I'm going.

My taco is still stock and my skill level noon but I don't mind watching the more modified rigs do the more challenging things. There's plenty of options that will work for everyone

As my boss put it to me a few days ago, I'm a washed up old has been.....I'm not quite as aggressive as I once was and won't tackle a lot of things my truck is probably capable of....And I'll be dragging a friend along that's got about 3 hours of off road experience in a Jeep XJ with street tires on it....So you'll have company on the easy trails.....I've killed a number of trucks back in my "glory daze".....Just not gonna pound this one into a pulp....

It usually stays on 19 or 17 if I've got it on while driving, when organizing a ride we can pick whatever is clearest. I think the "ORV channel" is 6 or 12 or something but it's what ever. 6 is usually full of skip and too busy.

I didn't know if everyone had a regular channel or not. I'm old enough that I go back to the days when CB's were 23 channels. We did channel 5 back then. Buying a 40 channel Cobra this weekend. That and a "Fire Stick". Me and a buddy co-own an SWR meter.

Just replaced my snapped Firestick with a Wilson Flex, don't have a meter. Haven't tried the tune out yet but I I have ran both before and they are comparable. Wilson is a LOT more flexible

I'll have to remember that. I'll look for the Wilson Flex. If you don't find a meter to use, and you DO end up going to Badlands on the 14th, the meter will be with us. I still have something like 33 days of vacation to burn before the end of the year.....Gonna take a day on the 14th. Also taking a week around the Harlan trip in October and probably a few days around the Dirt Devil trip.

I'm getting a lot of interest in the Dirt Devil trip. Got a group from here in town that's all stock Tacoma's. 6 of 'em....

So far just one commit to Harlan.

Sorta kicking around the idea of doing a run in Sept to Interlake in Indiana. Also looking at Redbird in Indiana. Some "kinfolk" that lives near there and has Jeeps go all the time. They've been inviting me for a year now....

This time last year, my health was starting to go down hill....By Blue Holler, I was getting pretty dang sick. I tried to put on a good front, but I felt miserable that day. Gonna make up for lost time this fall!

3hrs 42mins from my place. LBL is closer and could be considered a "day trip" with those #s lol . I was thinking it was closer for some reason...
Just thinking... I've got Mud Madness 30mins away, only went there once over a year ago and didn't get to stay but a couple hrs. Played in the mud with a buddy in a Colorado. Only ran a few trails. May hit that one myself some weekend. Will let you know @Bluegrass Taco if I go, wifey can't go since she's much pregnant.
Also, 1.5hrs from me is RRG, great camping/wheeling there if you know where to go...
Damn ive got the itch! And can't afford to scratch with this baby on the way lol

RRG is a quick trip from our house too....

I miss "the good ol' days" when we had 8 GREAT trails within an hour of the house. They've ALL been closed off for 25 years or more now. One of them, "Highwater Road" was a mini version of Harlan. And "Flower Gap" was the ultimate mudder trail. (Holes with names like Lake Erie and Drivetrain Ally...) we could go wheelin' 7 days a week and not go on the same trail twice. Back then, I was so into it, we would often do just that!

I know what you mean about the "afford" thing. Just got ANOTHER doctor bill yesterday.....I didn't open it until this morning. Glad I didn't or I wouldn't have been able to sleep last night! $4100 MORE to pay....Puts me up to just over $17,000 out of pocket, AND I HAVE INSURANCE...
