Me personally, I think the marketing guys have overshot the mark this time. I think the "bigger is better" trend for some classes of vehicles (like mid sized SUVs) may have peaked. Middle class buyers are feeling the bite of the economy. We'll see, but I think as far as high-volume sales go, they may tank next year on mid-large size SUVs.

It all depends on what monthly payments foolish people feel they can support.

Hey guys and gals. I have a question I was hoping some of you might be able to answer:

I just went camping near yellowwood/monroe lakes, and I stayed at one of the dispersed campsites near Hickory Ridge Tower for a few days (absolutely beautiful area BTW.) and I while scouting for good dispersed sites the first day of cruising I came across a site near the tower with a grey/blue tent with a tarp half-covering it. There's a red camping chair near it and no vehicles on site. I went past it a few times going back and forth for 4 days, and nothing on that site moved an inch. It looks abandoned. On my last day of camping I drove up on the site, and I honked my horn. I called out to anyone, but no one answered. I'm afraid I didn't have the balls to check the tent, but it seemed weird that I didn't see anything going on at night, even after sundown. No fire, or anything.

Has any of you driven around there lately and noticed that? Is anyone near the area willing to at least drive by and see if that tent with the red chair is still sitting there, now a couple of days later, and if it is, maybe report it so that someone can check it out? The site has almost exclusive access to a pond a short hike away since the only trail going to it starts at the campsite. If anyone went back there and something happened no one else would go back there to discover anyone in need of help if there's a tent on the site.
Am I making to much out of nothing?

    Heres the location:

Please call DNR and tell them. Most likely just an abandoned camp site, but just I'm case anything screwy is going on, let them handle it.

Will do... I just wanted to see if anyone could at least tell me if the tent is still there after a couple more days, or if they finally took off. It's a beautiful site, and I have a feeling that someone is "reserving it."

I'll bet it looks the same now- just PEOPLE there! All everyone has been talking about for the last week is how NICE the weekend will be. I have to work, unfortunately, or I would be down there myself. Sounds like a primo spot that, as you say, had been 'reserved' :annoyed:. Might even be a nice camper occupying the spot now and the 'decoy' is put away!

I reported it and I guess DNR is going to check it out. Hopefully it was someone just reserving the spot. It would suck if something bad happened. I doubt that DNR would give me an update.

Did you mean SW Inidiana, or is there another Griffin over East? I live just West of Evansville and I know where Griffin is located.

My parents had a river camp on the Wabash for 5 yrs at one point and it was just SW of Griffin.

Also, got a friend that lives across the river in Calvin IL. If you sometimes hear gunfire for hours at a time, he has a gun range that points directly towards Griffin and him and his brother LOOOVVVEE to burn ammo.
