an orr bridge got painted at work and the vehicles in the parking lot got covered with orange speckles of paint. not sure what kind of paint but its probably a good anti rust paint for steel. it covers everything on my truck, trim, windows, paint. its 1 year old with a clear coat.
going out to see what a clay bar does now. work will be going through insurance to fix the vehicles but if anybody has any good input it would be appreciated.
Id like to be able to tell if what they suggest doing to my new truck will be good or hazardous to my paint20170324_140442.jpg

The insurance adjuster should not 'suggest' anything other than bringing in a professional detailer.

You do need to ask the adjuster what the remedy will be should the detailer mess it up. Mostly so they are aware you'll be looking closely.

I seriously doubt clay bar will do diddly on the painted surfaces, unless you have a nice layer of wax on it.

    Best of luck!

A clay should be able to take it off. Will need something stronger than box store clay though.

I would recommend a good detailer in your area.

I wouldn't touch the vehicle until the insurance adjuster looks at it. Make sure they see exactly the condition it's in so that you can get reimbursed for all of the damage. Then I'd take it to a professional detailer. BTW, bridge paint is designed to adhere to just about anything, so it will not be easy to remove. The good news is that it will come off.

I'd let someone experienced deal with it, if it's as bad as you say..

I know what all can be used to try and get it off and or what they'll do to fix it if that doesn't work.. But I'd hate to recommend any of it without you having experience and mess it up worse than it is.

i tested 2 tiny areas on hood and windshield. good thing I put 2 coats of klasse on before the winter because it did eventually come off. but did not come off any trim. just wanted to check for piece of mind so i dont believe anything an adjuster throws my way like wd40 or some shit. i dont want whatevers left of the clear coat ruined. and im not going to clay every inch myself, i have a cap on the back too. I also have vinyl over the whole roof which i havent tested yet.
does vinyl and clay mix well?

Adjuster should not tell you to do anything. His job is only to verify the issue and point you to a facility to correct it. If he's telling you 'how', he's just prattling; the firm getting paid will determine how. BTW, WD40 will not harm your paint. It's great for removing things like pine sap and such. But it's not going to remove that overspray

Don't blame you. Whoever does the work will have to be very careful not to be to aggressive, or suddenly a repaint will be on your docket.

Vinyl? As in some kind of wrap? If so, I'd be requesting a replacement wrap.

never dealt with insurance like this before but when you say the adjuster point you in the right direction, does that mean I can choose the detailer?
and yes the roof of the cab and cap have been wrapped in 3m vinyl

Coming from the industrial coating industry, you will have to file a third party clime with the company, and you better have all your facts straight or they will deny the claim. The company should provide a professional detailer to come to you. If they cannot get it out, they will have you go to a body shop and get an estimate to fix the issues. At that point they will either have you take it to a shop and have it fixed, and they will pay for it, or they will cut you a check. Don't touch it till you reach out to the company.

Some of the industrial paints are pretty knarly and the solvents will eat into the clear coat. Also plastic trim is pretty much a goner. One time we over coated a shitty chubby avalanche, and it needed $7,000 worth of new plastics.

Not sure how it works in Canada but in US you should file a tort claim with the state. Your insurance might do it for you. Make sure the painters pay, not you.
