As far as I understand Australians have severe limitations on how they can modify vehicles, a lot of the world has restrictions too, while the USA seems to be the wild west of car modifications.

Oh YES shocks fade, and it's a real thing. Once that heat builds up and the oil viscosity gets low the ride gets noticeably different.

Their access roads to get to the wheeling sights are significantly wider due to having to move mining equipment around.

I'm 100% in the camp that 5100 and one is all you could really want for average wheeling. Anything else is over kill, or addressing a specific need..

Yep. Emulsification is a bitch. Thus the real perk of reservoirs.

That's something that is actually debunked in the video that was posted in this thread. The salesman says the primary reason for the remote reservoir is to separate the nitrogen from the oil. That was satisfying news to me. I had been wondering, that if cooling was a large issue in shock performance, why don't we see air cooling fins or liquid cooling on shocks?

What was debunked? Nitrogen mixing with the oil?

I really wanted to hear his explanation on emulsification not being a thing?

I really wanted to hear how the nitrogen mixed with the oil. Or even his theory of how the nitrogen worked in a shock.
Complete let down for a shit show thread...

A culmination of my last two weeks! waiting for employees to come back to work, waiting for the "rona" to subside, waiting for my wife to leave...
Pile it on, I have pretty broad shoulders.

. I don't think we were at the point of having the conversation of emulsion vs ifp, vs reservoir / internal operating pressure, and who the hell actually needs / benefits from what features.

    But I had pictures ready.

Playa... Is that the same lake bed that an ill-advised white Tacoma got stuck in recently?

Anyway, the rear shocks on the Tacoma and Titan are stressed more - they move at ~1:1 ratio with the rear wheels and manage the weight of the rear axle on rebound. Because of IRS, the rear shocks on the Ridgeline move at ~3:5 ratio and have far less unsprung weight to manage. My opinion is the rear shocks should be beefier when upgrading. That's why I got these suckers in the rear, while managing with just IFP coilovers in the front:
