How does the panel with the a.c. controls come off? I'm going to derp my dash trim and I think doing that piece would look good too.

That’s actually the hardest one to get apart only because I was scared to mess up the circuit board on the inside. It’s just a couple screws and clips. Just be gentle. I have dual climate but I think if you have single zone you have to line the dials up the same or it doesn’t work.

Thank you SgtPuddin for posting those pictures, it gave me inspiration on doing it myself. I was able to find a youtube video that showed how some of the pieces came off and was able to figure out the rest. Best tool for removal was using a plastic puddy knife that I got at walmart... I was able to jam it into many areas to help pop crap out... Total time to remove everything was about 30 minutes since I had no idea what I was doing...if I was to do it again I could probably have it all out in about 15...and all that was the easy part... I actually bought all the materials for sanding and painting myself at walmart and autozone to get the job done. Would have been nice to have someone else paint it but i said screw it, im new to the area and didn't want to wait... Total time was about 8ish hours including removal, sanding, priming, painting, clearcoat, etc... and the total cost ran around $100.

How did you remove the vent on the passenger side? Do you just pry the outer ring off? Or do they twist off?

The other three I know come off with the other trim parts but the passenger side isnt attached to any other trim parts.

You just take a pry tool and carefully pull it out. Take care not to bend up the outer edge of the plastic because it is thin.

That's what I assumed I just wanted to make sure there was no special trick to it. Thanks!

How did you get the AC button panel off? Does it just pry off or are there bolts behind the dash holding it in?

I want to paint all the same areas you did but in Inferno!

EDIT: just saw that you answered that question already for someone else! But yours turned out great! Just have to get the supplies for mine.

i really like this. For those that have done this so far, how is it holding up? Any scratches, chips, etc? for those who did DIY on this, would you be able to explain how you did it step by step? i know how to remove the parts and place back on but for the materials for painting/sanding and the techniques used i would like to hear more. thanks.

I had mine professionally painted but I do find myself being more careful than I was before. I have no issues with chipping or scratching.

It looks good! A bit much for me but as the man said - Rock it for awhile and change it if you get tired of it.

Hey I liked it the inferno vent rings. It was the steering wheel :crapstorm::crapstorm:

I had it done at a local body shop. He charged me $125 to put 2 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. I told him to paint like an exterior body panel. I just showed him a picture of what I wanted and he did it.

Where did you get inferno accents? AJT designs doesn't make them...claims they can't do that color, but can do every other color tacoma makes.

Looks great! Maybe some more inferno on the shift knob and door area.
