Ok guys . . . I know I will get my butt kicked on here for asking this but . . . I have a 2016 Sport 60,287 miles, and I found a 2021 Army Green Tacoma at a local dealer. This truck has just over 5000 miles on it. Looking to sell/buy or trade/buy. How much better have the trucks gotten if any in 7 years? I have had zero problems with mine. I must have gotten lucky. Ok, let me know good and bad! :)

I had a 2016 back new and now have a 21 I bought last year.
The transmission stock vs stock was a night and day difference on its shifting patterns. Many times with my 16 I wanted to drive it into a wall with the way it wouldn't shift unless you put your foot through the floor. The 21 was much smoother and changes gears properly. I do have mine tuned to help it even more but between the two stock for stock, the 21 was a lot better. Other than that there really isnt much difference other than the infotainment unit in the TRD as it doesn't have navigation built-in and has apple/andriod car play
the 3rd brake light issues was fixed, the front seal on the timing chain is supposed to be resolved and the coolant pipe on the backside of the motor is supposed to be resolved as well.

Similar here, I bought a new 2016 off-road and now I am in a 2020. I think over time they improved on some of the known bugs, I'm glad I went newer. Also, the newer modes have available the lane departure/cruise radar, but you might not want that if you do lots of mud and water work with the truck.

Really it would just be the Safety Sense system that would be added. You don't mention if the the new truck is a Sport like your old one so depending on model, there may be differences there... personally I own my 2017 Sport outright. And that is the absolute best mod I have made to my truck. I feel no need to do that mod again for a long time.

Happy with my '17 since it doesn't have all that safety crap on it that came out in '18

Had a 19 OR. Now in a 22 OR. I love the 22. Little things like auto headlights, dual zone climate, power seat, even the chrome around the cup holders that used to blind me are now a matte silver.

My 22 drives real similar to my buddies 17, but smoother but nothing to write home about

    Went from a 16 to an 18.

The 18 has more buttons. I like safety sense. The power rear window was what really sold it for me.

21 has carplay. 21 will be missing the driver's bed cubby.

They both drive the exact same. Both have the same reliability.

Here's what to ask yourself. You will get safety sense, carplay, a power rear window, power drivers seat, and a different color. Nothing else. Is that worth financing for another x number of years worth it to you?
