I just joined the forum because after owning my 2001 Double Cab Tacoma since 2006, I am finally interested in making some additions. Namely, I want to lift it slightly (would appreciate opinions on how high to go without seeming obnoxious...3"? 4"?), get bigger tires, offset them from the body, replace the stock plastic wheel-well fender things, get some kind of simple/understated black rims with the lugs exposed, take the stock bumper off and get a "cattle catcher" of some kind, and do some sort of spray-in liner on the bed. I'd also like to replace the tailgate with something kind of "chain-link" inspired, and get rid of the plastic chrome grill.

This is all after, of course, I pay $550 next week to replace the computer, as it is giving 65% fuel because apparently the computer is dead. And get some welding repairs done to my muffler, which is like Swiss Cheese, and the truck sounds like a B-52. And try to figure out how to get the big dent out of the hardline on the passenger front door.

Huhhh....Lot to do. Not even sure if it's worth it at this point. But she only has 111,000 miles, and I'd like to get another 100,000. I want to have the work done, but It's not gonna happen unless I can find used parts for low prices and a shop in town that will work with me and my student/Fores Service intern budget. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated--I know next to nothing!

    Thanks

Toytec Coilovers, Dakar springs with 10" billies, deck plate, diff breather, more in the works.
Toyteclifts.com, discounttiredirect.com, 4wheelparts.com, wheelersoffroad.com, and ebay would be a good place to start. 3" is usually good enough to throw some bigger tires on, spidertrax makes some good wheel spacers if you want your tires to stick out. Also tons of info on the forums. If you are getting rid of your fenders I would be interested in them. Good Luck!
