Having only ever been Threatened with a BAN and never receiving an infraction, I only assumed that there was no infraction system.

It is a shame that there is always a big 'fukc you' hanging over our heads just cuz a someone is but hurt.

I get off topic about things I am passionate about, but eventually I tend to drop it. More in the humor that I play along to get the others worked up.

No, it's a discretionary system. If you're a mod, the 'proper' way to utilize it is however is deemed fit at that time, given the situation.

there is a "Terms of Service"?

I think you mean "Code of Conduct"

They aren't providing a service that is being paid for...

Isn't there the "at the mods discretion" 'clause'?

If you want to go all 'constitutional' on it its an implied pawoar

I know this all too well. However, I feel an infraction is more effective. That says, 'watch out' a little more and YOU could earn a ban. Not just handing out a ban on a whim.

In the infraction system there is an option for a warning or an actual point assignment. It is all already built into the VBULLETIN system, and most of the other bbs style boards. Setting it up is 10min worth of work. Then letting the other 'staff' in on how to properly use it.

This is NOT my board. But I just went to look at a build thread and couple others that I had bookmarked and now they are gone.

Was not trying to get the site in an uproar over a suggestion and a question. Just was peturbed when some content I wanted to re read was GONE>

Guess I will start making backups of this site on a weekly basis again.

I disagree because there will then be people who will push the limits of ban. If I know that I can say something or do something and only earn a couple points against a potential future ban, I might just go ahead and do it. If I don't know what's going to happen to me if I say or do something, I might not be willing to do it and find out what the consequences are. Again, TW is not a democracy, tis a dicatorship, Bob is the leader and he rules with his many minions

another thing to consider is this, the mods/admin also have their own lives, they arent paid to babysit all of us, they took their post(s) willingly for a connected interest in a vehicle and the activities of that vehicle, volunteers.

making it more complicated and harder to manage for all of the members and the level of infractions is a management nightmare I would not wish on anyone.
