You are correct. As I stated, this was just an example. Does not HAVE to be implemented, just felt it would help. Obviously people are oposed. Then again the poll is indicitive of how others feel on the subject.

Anyways. Carry on. That is why I put this in Site related.

On some boards when an infraction is received, a Message/ PM goes along with it with an explanation. That is all.

Our system works quite well for how we run this site

We actually don't want to ban anyone but occasionally we have no choice...

implementation of this idea adds more hands on and thats not how we like to do it...we prefer that people just follow the rules and stick to the spirit of the site

Ban. I've seen what happens to forums with moderation systems, and worse yet, forums with no moderation at all.

People will act like idiots on the internet unless there are serious and painful consequences. The only consequence that ever seems to get anybody's attention is a flat-out ban. I'm in favor.

    We have an infraction system.
Bans are also of varying times, anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks is typical. Immediate perma-bans are rare, and are generally only used when the offense is over the top AND the user has already been told to knock it off.

Don't feel sorry for the banned... they had plenty of warning and fully earned it themselves... regardless of what they tell you on the Facebook page once the offending posts have been deleted by the mods.
Double edged sword... the mods clean up the threads, which removes offensive content from the forum, but also removes the "evidence"... so the banned member goes to another forum or Facebook and cries about his banning.

As far as your comments about content being lost from build threads, this is NOT done automatically when a member is banned.
The only time a users posts and threads are deleted after they are banned is WHEN THEY REQUEST IT.

Again... regardless of what they tell you on Facebook.

Look up Whippersnapper02, or Shemp, or Colt1195, or any number of other members who have received perma-bans. All of their content (except for the offending posts that got them banned) remain on the forum.

If anybody's build thread is gone, it's because the banned member decided to act like they were in preschool and wanted to take their ball and go home.

I do have a firm understanding of how it the system works., My issue was that in some instances it does inconvenience other members on the board.

Mentioned a few times already. Appreciate you expressing your opinion though.

Remind me never to participate in your forum.

I'm with Babytruck... anything from "posted scam" on down, plus discussing drug sources should be an immediate perma-ban.

I don't want to be on a forum where users who post links to harmful scripts are only given "7" points that expire in less than a month.

they are cumulative. SO multiple infractions could be given at once. then the times compound on the infractions.

This was something from a few years ago. Since then it has been revised many times.

Point is, it was revealed that there is an Infraction system HERE>

I like the system thats here, people here act like civil people and if you cant do that, then you shouldn't be on the forum, regardless of the input.

When we have a thread/post or whatever, that's an issue, we judge accordingly. Most everyone on the site, are adults......in one way, or another......and we take that into consideration. Being as we are all adults, in many cases, we simply PM the person in question, and in tell them to chill, knock it off, etc. This seems to work well, as a simple infraction, can sometimes put someone off the deep end. bans are also given, based on the issue at hand. For example, if its a small issue, that warrents a ban, then the member can get anything from 1 to 7 days. Longer in some cases, shorter in others. If a member keeps on stiring shit, time after time, and doesn't heed any warnings, then we discuss what to do with them. Many times, it involves a perm ban. In other cases, OZ for example, we ban him because we are mostly racists twards him, and he seems to think he has some clout on the site.

Wasn't the intention. Again, it was prompted by some recent searches and lack of info that WAS here at one point.

hence why this was under SITE SUGGESTIONS and me not telling everyone to implement this. I only offered a suggestion and included the user base in it. Many people here are M&A on other boards. Who cares. I was Not telling anyone how to run anything. Only offering my opinion and suggestions.

M&A is apposed, and I did not have all the facts to begin with.
