Like the title says, my dad inherited his moms car awhile ago that gets insane mileage for his long commutes, so he gave me his tacoma. As far as I know, the supercharger is the only modification.

This is my first car and I got it about 3 months ago

It’s a silver 2003 Double Cab Pre runner with 230K miles and a 2nd gen trd supercharger. It’s driver side door is messed up so I need to buy a new door shell but that’s about it. What type of special maintenance does it need? My dad said he did the usual car maintenance, oil change, engine check up, and fluids changed, and I think he replaced the supercharger belt not to long ago. I barely know anything about cars so I don’t exactly know where to start. What should I look at fixing or checking up on? What things do I need to replace/fix/check yearly or every certain miles?

1 problem already is that pressing pedal to the metal causes the engine to clunk somewhat rapidly back and forth like it’s trying to drop a gear and put it power but it can’t. When that happens, the PSI gage also rapidly goes back and forth from like 6 to 9 psi. I have to let go a little bit then it revs up high and goes. Don’t like this issue and don’t know how to address it, like I said, I have almost 0 knowledge of cars especially anything technical or under the hood.

Also what type of mods should I do to it? Already having the SC is a great start so I definitely want to put money into it, mostly engine mode but also some exterior.

My dad said the original owner took out the sway bars but don’t know if it’s 100% true, need to confirm with dad.

Any help regarding anything is great!
