Hi, I am a first time lurker to these forums. I am currently looking into the new 2016 Tacoma as my little 1989 Toyota Pickup finally wore out at 300k+ miles. This is a weird question, but since the new tacoma has a push button start, what does the new key/fob look like? Not a common question, I was just curious.

    1) Not sure about that.
    2) The OR suspension is geared to absorb the hit when going over rough terrain so as not to give you whiplash. The sport is stiffer meant for better handling on the road. I imagine the comments about harsh would be the different tires perhaps? You will likely feel the difference when taking turns feeling a little more confident with the sport I imagine. Also the OP mentioned the back end of the truck didn't hop over the speed bump at his dealership, which most truck do. Beyond that someone else will have to chime in.
    3) The lower models do not have traction control as far as I know, unless they have ATRAC. They do all have hill start assist for A/T and I imagine all have ABS.
    4) The OR traction control is ATRAC. Multi-terrain Assist is just an advanced version of this system due to the A/T. The M/T has clutch cancel on the M/T. These options are not available on the lower models. I find most people get the manual if they want more control over the gears they are in and some of the hard core off roaders will only buy M/Ts.

Hope this answers some of the questions. Other people will chime in to with additional info.

All models have TRAC, a weak version of ATRAC. They don't have to added brake booster

It bugs me that the front edge of the fender flares stop short at the bottom. Mostly noticeable on the OR where they are not body color. Otherwise...awesome looking truck

nice truck and awesome write up. I may have missed it in the pics I looked at, but I didn't see the oil filter. Where is it located?

    Yes it's a tad warm here ;)

Oil filter is, as I understand it, near the center of the engine area. Need to remove the skid plate to see it better.

That's a little annoying. I prefer the top-mount filter like on the 2nd gens, but since I have to crawl under it anyway to get to the drain plug I guess I don't really care too much.

Quick Question. I have a DCSB TRD OR M/T in Quicksand with Prem/Tech & Tow package on order. Pretty excited. $500 refundable deposit, and no build-date yet...

However, does anyone know the total width, INCLUDING the side mirrors? My garage doors are 8' on the money. I don't want any issues. Full size trucks can't make it in.

My wife drives a 2015 Touareg TDI, and it clears by only about 3" on both sides. which isn't a big deal, you just have to pay a attention. Plenty of room once inside garage.

That's what i was thinking for width, but this was in the Manual.

    Overall width
    74.4 in. (1890.5 mm)
    75.2 in. (1910.3 mm)*3

*3: Vehicles with a over fender

What would the over-fenders have to do with the mirrors? Surely the mirrors stick out more than the fenders...

Maybe the don't include mirror in width because mirrors can be folded in? Dunno....

If side mirrors aren't included in the overall width, this could be a deal breaker for me. My '12 only clears my garage by maybe 2" on each side and the '16 is about 3/4" wider according to specs. The '16 mirrors also appear to stick out more than the '12.

Mike, would you mind measuring how far out the side mirror comes out from where it mounts?
