Long time lurker and rare posts but just changed my 2013 Sport Double Cab TRD Sport for a 2016 Access Cab TRD OR so, with several days of driving, I thought I'd share my impressions versus what I've read often in here.

I like the new V6. The power is about the same at low RPM but seems more when you demand it. I think I actually feel the direct injection kick in. With the Access Cab being more than 100 pds lighter ...

I don't think the new Tacoma is quieter. You hear the engine a little more IMO. The road noise is the same.

The transmission does chase proper gears more that before in town but I don't find it annoying. It's a function of fuel economy to try and keep the rpm low.

I transferred my Extang Trifold cover but not without replacing the front seal with something thinner and I had to gain 3/4 of an inch on the rear spring latches to reach the brackets which are lower now (in the rails) by loosening the stop screw inside the latches. Where the gate contacts is still tight so I will probably change that seal too. Otherwise, the fit is just as good as before. Love the locking gate.

The headlights are significantly improved. Having separate bulbs for lows and highs is noticeable.

I love the truck. For me, I also appreciate the shorter turning radius of the Access Cab.

And yes, these don't sit at the dealership very long. I never see more that a few at a time yet you can tell that they're new ones overtime I drop by.

The gear shift chasing happens when you stick the trans lever in D and leave it all of the time. It you match the speed limit to your transmission setting, it doesn't anywhere near as much. In town, the six speed is set at 4.

Toyota had a TSB sent out to dealers to let customers know that the noise is just a function of the motor cleaning the injectors

You can attach these together. They make the straps/hardware just for the purpose.

I only have one. That pic is from the GunnerKennel website.
They are $500 each. (Tie down straps and other accessories extra of course) And worth every dollar. They are nearly indestructible. Lockable. And extremely well built.
Check out the videos on the website and YouTube.
At 1st I was "holy crap 500 bux?" But after checking it out I bought one instantly.
I put it together and my pup climbed right in. She loves it.

I measured. It looks like 2 of these kennels would fit between the Tacoma wheel wells. It would be a tight fit. Probably just right.

Great thread! Haven't seen one in person yet, but I'm glad I held off on getting a 15. The 16 has so much new & cool going for it. My only 2 disappointments is the Pyrite Mica has been replaced by the tan color, not a fan. Also I know that I'll be the odd man out on this, but I think the new wheels are hideous, except for the SR5's. I hate black wheels, and always have. Just my .02

True, not totally black. I think the Limited's are the worst, imo. Wheels are an easy change though.

Not sure if it's all the time. Very noticeable after you've driven a while and get out of the truck with it idling.

FYI, for those of you that like the KO2s, tirerack has a 70 dollar rebate on the purchase of 4 BF goodrich tires right now.
