It's inner tie rod time for my truck and I'm wondering what the best option is.

OE inners are massively expensive at $178 a side. Low Range Offroad has 555s for $33 a side.

Normally I'm all about OE stuff, because I beat the crap out of my truck and I also don't enjoy working on my suspension any more than necessary. But at those prices I might as well just get a whole new steering rack. ($550)

I'm kind of nervous about how much cheaper the Low Range units are. Is this an LBJ-type situation where Toyota sells what is clearly the best product?

My current rack seems fine -- maybe a tiny bit of leaking from the valve body. But I'm running 33"s and my truck is lifted. I know these racks get pretty taxed by the big rubber and the rebuilds are kind of a crap shoot.

So I guess I'm curious if it makes more sense to get a new rack while they're still available, with the inner tie rods?

I'm not exactly made of money, so not excited to spend that kind of extra cash on what I had hoped would be an inexpensive job. But at the same time, I don't want to be kicking myself in a couple years if it's likely that I need a new rack. Parts like these are only going to get more expensive and/or NLA.

Just curious what other people's thoughts were. I know that there's an OE Toyota tax, but trying to wrap my head around why the OE inner TREs are 5x the price.

    Go with 555

replaced one side 20k ago and its still solid

later on you can get a rack if its leaking or it fails

I also bought 555 brand for my inner tie rods. Put about 10k on them so far and no problems.
