    no gas tube yet?

You should give Troy a call and see if they can hook you up with a discount for being a FF. When I ordered my first rail back on black friday (30% off) it was on back order. I asked if I could change my order to a different rail, she said yes, and then I asked if I could add another rail and still get 30% off on that one, she said yes. :woot:

I wont hurt to ask :D

Haha. No gas tube, LPK, magazines, and flash hider. Oh yeah and no rail. Although I do have most of them in a shopping cart on different sites.

The 10" rail will be GTG. Use it, then when you figure out what you really need, sell it and get what you want.

Yeah I've been really thinking about that. It was only a hundred ten bucks so it wasn't much. I just won't be able to put MIs trim ring on the rail.

It may have to do till the Troy rails go back on sale.

For someone's first AR, I always suggest putting M4 grips or MOE grips on them. It seems like you're looking for light weight, the MOE grips would have been the way to go.

...and as soon as I get my ejection door in, I'll finish the one I have on my workbench here. (And yes, it has a Troy Rail, but a 9"r since this is a parts box gun.)

Oh you are probably right. I just assumed grip instead of magpuls rail/forearm/handguard whatever people call it.

A MOE foreend "feels" lighter for some reason. They are a good starting point, because you retain the A2 front sight, and can add some accessories later. (And they are cheap)

I run Daniel Defense, Troy, YHM, KAC, and MI rails on my rifles. My favorite for the money is the Troy....

Meh. Not really concerned about the bit of the gas block that is showing. Taking RevAdams advice and keeping it till the Troys are on sale.

Also think I am going to take out the white color fill on the main logo of the lower. Keeping the fire/safety colored but the big logo is a bit too much.

That's why I said "I usually suggest". I knew he had a LP gas block so it makes the point mute :) My real suggestion to him was the Troy, which was like a page or 2 back but to keep what he has now and put lead downrange until they go on sale...

Try OD Green for the fill. Different enough to stand out, but not bright white. I thought it looked pretty good with the VLTOR banner on your upper though.

    Okay an update.

Installed the RRA two-stage NM trigger, and just ordered gas tube and roll pin, three windowed pmags, and a JP LPK without trigger group.

Still waiting on the acs-l but that's just my brother being lazy and not picking it up from his friends shop.

I got some center pin punches from harbor freight and installed the trigger assembly. It was really easy and fun. Glad the AR is almost finished.

Welp, finally finished it; for the most part anyway. Still need to get an optic.

I went with the MBUS cause I read a review/comparison about them holding up to some crazy torture tests and I figured if I was going to spend the money on a quality optic, then the back-up sights wouldn't really matter to me.

I'll try and find the link to that thread. Think it compared them to Midwests back up irons and Troys back up irons.

Thanks for all your input everyone. Will update when I get an optic.
