I go a 2013 access cab tacoma and am finally ready to put on some nice wheels and tires. I was thinking of going to 17 or 18" rim. I currently have 16. I would like to keep a nice tire on there as this is a truck but I am worried about if the speedo is going to get thrown off. I have a 245 75 16 so how what tire would I be looking at? Thanks for the help all. I really want to make sure I like what I buy before I spend all this money

If you want stock size, stick with 265/65R17 or jump up to a 265/70R17. Check out the tire size calculator to help you out.

In the end it's going to come down to what looks good to you. Most people usually want rims that look good, not usually tires. I'd find some stock size tires that look good to you and go with those. If you go with huge tires your speedo won't really be thrown off, just your gas mileage.

I prefer 315/75/16 but hey its up to you.

On a more serious note I think that a 255/85/16 will be my next size you do need to be lifted a bit for those. The 265/70/16s are what my dad has on his tundra and those look very nice.

I'm in the "more tire, less wheel" camp. Stick with 16" wheels and get a bigger tire 265/75/16.

I just put a set of General Grabber AT2s in that size on mine. They look great.

Edit: At the cost of about 2mpg.

I stuck with the stock OR wheels and had them powdercoated and upgraded from the 245/75r16 dunlops to 265/75r16 bfg at's and am quite pleased with the results.

All depends on if you get a lift or not. When my truck wasn't lifted the P265/70R16s looked great. With the 3" leveling kit i have now they look small. Rides great though. Just do what most of did and read through every post on here till your eyes bleed. Then you still won't know and will 2nd guess your purchase till you replace the tires before you need to cause you want a different look. LOL

Preliminary report. I was also pissed off every day leaving work and it's a pretty unpopulated road I travel.. you get the point.

ARB locker and 4.56's to come.
    So funny and true.

Lots of people like 285/75/17 with 2-3" of lift and minor inner wheel well trimming. 1.5" add a leaf in back. Now I'm getting more into 4 wheeling and looking at doing 35's. As he says, look till your eyes bleed to get a feel, then go for it! 265 wasn't enough for me, but I have liked 285 for basic offroad.

    Cheers.

I wonder how much you could actually turn the wheel with 37s with no lift.

I would like to eventually do a lift but have to get the money to do so. So for now I'm prob going to leave it stock. I do like the pictures of the 16. I'm have an idea of what rim I want but I don't want I get a tire that has a small amount of sidewall and looks like a car.

I agree. I've never understood the guys that buy a 4x4, then slap a set of magnesium 20's on it and put a rubber band on for tires.

Did O, i just intalled 265/75/R16 stock wheel BFGoodrich allterrain TA KO amont ago.
without any lift or mod to the truck, just new tire and balanced.
slighty more noise than stock tire dunlop 245/70/R 16 and my mpg drop 15 miles/tank, i used to have 300 mile/tank with stock tire, with the 265 BFG i am getting around 280-285 miles/ tank, but i love the new look, a little more aggresive but not over doing it.
If u decide to have a lift and installed 33" or 35" sure it will be looks more nice and cool but also will get you a big ding in ur pocket, if you dont mind spending $1000 S just for looks go right ahead then, i only spending $500 on those BFGs, Browsed Craiglist for few week, saw somebody willing to take $400 for a set 265/75/16 AT/KO grab em and tell discount tire to mount the beasts.
Well good luck on ur Research and have fun doing it, its also enjoyable moment to know more about ur own truck, best of luck bud.:D
