All season mats, 2nd filter delete, DT header, Jardine cat-back, URD shifter, Bilstein 5100's all around at .85 front with Eibachs + .25 passenger/.5 drivers spacers and 1.5 AAL, 0w20 synthetic, Scanguage II, extra D rings, OEM backup camera+Mirror, bed mat, Extang Solid Fold, Popnlock 5300, Pro Comp 7089's 4.5bs 285/70/17 Revo 2s, De-badged
Today I got my Scanguage installed, and we drove all day. Truck is brand new with 450 kms (280 miles) and we drive over half that today. I drove the usual trips we take and routes just to test out the MPG we would get. I was fairly cautious but still lots of room to improve. Started/turned off the motor 3 times, and idled a few time. I drove about 85% city/15% highway with some hills but nothing too serious.
At the end of the day it said I averaged 28.2mpg. (US gal)
Is this right?? That seems insane. I didnt even baby the hell out of it. Stock everything other then the 2nd filter delete (afe in the mail still)
Is it because of the gas we use that has no ethanol?

Did you set it up properly? Calculate the mileage yourself at the next fill up. I always do event though I run an Ultragauge.

Not accurate everyone else hit it right on, you need to fill it up about 4 -5 times. You will be getting around 20 - 22 mpg. Even after I change my tires it took a few fill ups for my mileage to become accurate again.

I thought so. I did set it up as close as possible. But I expect it to go up. We shall see..

On my 7th and 8th trip today here were the numbers
7th- 40-50 kms = 24.5 mpg (alot of up hill)
    8th - 40-50 kms = 30.2 mpg (back home)
Im telling you guys, This is the mpg I keep getting. Anywhere between 24-30 depending on how easy I am on the truck, and the road cconditions. Will this continue? I have over 300 kms on the scanguage so far

My Ultraguage calibration factor is 1.12. Without doing the calibration my mileage would be about 27 MPG, instead of the actual 24.4 MPG that I really get. BTW are you figures USA gallons or Imperial gallons.

The calibration on the Ultragauge is where you input the actual Gallons put in the tank. The 4 cyl Tacoma has no fuel level sensor in the tank that reports to the OBDII port. Therefore, at least on the Ultraguage you need to calibrate your Scanning guage by entering the amount of fuel put in the tank for the first few fillups. Maybe someone with a Scangauge can tell you how to check the calibration of your Scangauge.

Post #3 in this thread links to a Scangauge manual and page number to do a calibration for your gauge

Im just reading the real-time mpg and the average mpg for a trip. Nothing to do with putting fuel in it is there?

I think the biggest thing is that our gas has no ethanol in it, Im coasting when I can. I change gears at 2000rpm whenever possible. Maybe my scanguage is setup for imperial gallons then? Dont know why. A lot is to do with removing the 2nd filter. SUPER noticeable that Im wasting less gas without it

Like people have said before, it's not properly calibrated. Make sure you know how to set it up, and adjust accordingly every single time you fill up.

Also, check manually with the pump reading and your odo reading every fill up.

Miles travelled divided by gallons used at next fill up , it's pretty easy .

On your scangauge initial set up....size of engine(liters)..type of fuel etc. ....it does have you go through and enter this data.

Hand calculated I'm getting 24+ still. My girlfriend also drives it and she's clueless to gas saving. So 25+ would be normal without her I think
