I always randomly run quotes through Carmax and they offered 40K for my 22” OR w/ 7K miles and Tech package. I was really tempted to take it.

6 years from the date of purchase, they're offering me 5K less than what I paid, but that's dropped 3K in the past 12 months.

Toyota dealer here keeps wanting to buy my truck back. I have a long standing proposition for them. I will give them mine if they let me pick any Tundra on the lot that I want. Direct trade. So far no dice lol

I thinks it's really more that people are very leery of owning a 4 popper turbo long term and far higher long term maintenance costs then it won't be a great engine. And a turbo is nowhere as forgiving on deferred maintenance as a NA low stressed V6 engine is. You HAVE to change the oil and 10K miles between changes will come back to haunt you, don't care what ANY automaker says. and I've owned trouble free turbo's in the past [and one SC Volkswagon, a G Lader Corrado]. 3K oil changes and let the engine idle a minute or so before turning it off.

I'd buy a USED non turbo vehicle long before touching a used turbo one simply because most people suck at maintenance no matter what they tell you. New, at least you have a warranty for 5 years usually or 60K.

Mine calls me about once a month.
I tell them I'll take $75,000 in cash, or I'll self-finance with 50% down and 25% interest with approved credit.
I also tell them if their credit score is better than mine I'll do 20% interest.

My 2017 has 63k and recent trade in offers started at 21k. o_O Combine that with absurd new car prices, 3k-8k dealer addendums and $600 doc fees I'm really not that motivated to trade. :der:

Which V6 are you talking about? Toyota as engineered several. Or do you even know what you're talking about at all....? Excuse me while I go ask myself why I bother.

Unless you plan on keeping it forever I probably would have for a 3 year old truck. Problem is you'll have to find a replacement vehicle and new ones are a lot more than 40k.

I'm seeing lots of used 21-23 Tacomas mainly ORs and Sports with less than 25k miles
around here. My dealer won't resell any truck older than 2020.
    Prices range from 34K-42K

They have a really nice 2023 OR with 16k for 42K and a really clean 2021 OR for 39 with 24K
These trucks hold their value well.

My 15 goes up for sale in the spring [it's stored inside for winter like always]. I guess we will see how the market is. I'll be cutting down on the herd and selling 2 vehicles and just keeping the Mazda and whatever new ride I decide on.

I've never had a vehicle last more then a couple days in the front yard before it sold.

I see very VERY few second or third gens on lots locally, if I see one, they are usually gone in a couple days.

At the time I was in the market for a GR Corolla but after getting an earful I’ve since relinquished that urge.

If people keep paying more then they will continue to try to get more out of them. It's your own fault when anyone gives into this. If people don't pay it, they won't ask it very long. I would continue driving what you got if it's still decent. I would compare reliability/ cost of repairs with what you have now and then look at what your car payment will be when you let yourself get gouged. I know sometimes people may not have a choice, but most do.

This isn't really the "What did you pay for your used '22" thread, but I know well the pain felt by those looking at used Tacoma's.
I had to have an access cab. I do not like the new XtraCabs, and the loss of the "suicide" doors. I didn't really want a TRD-anything, just 4WD 3.5L.
Ended up paying $33k for a 2022 OR with 24,000 miles, because that's what was available after months of searching. Low mileage late model access cabs are just hard to find.
Edit: I've wondered if the market for '23-back access cabs is especially ridiculous because of the changes to the '24+ XtraCab.

And next year when new ones are $2000 more, what do you think will happen to the older ones? Inflation comes for all money and consumable goods at the end of the day.

I got $24k for our 2012 TRD OR with 140k miles on it. Someone flew in from out of state and drove it home even.
