I mean go ahead and file a complaint, but the FTC aren't the police. It'll take a preponderance of complaints for a specific dealer for specific behaviors or tactics over a long period of time before they'll take action.

The most effective way to combat these tactics is to bombard them with phone calls about that specific truck. If they get like 50 calls a day about it the salesman will get frustrated with their time being wasted vs our time being wasted.

I just called again, salesman is going to send me a video of the truck once he finds it. Good luck with that

I just bought same truck and color2021 with 60k and felt the same way. I rolled the dice from a private seller. These trucks in Florida are priced so high. Worst part is in a military town they won’t make deals. I went 0/5 from dealers.

People could be trying to recoup market adjustments and paying MSRP on 3rd gens. I doubt if dealers liked paying as much as they did for trade ins. Carvana and the likes are probably sitting on a lot of third gens and they want their money back.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
He's either getting his trucks mixed up or didn't notice something significant about the truck that the seller did.

Maybe it was only a 2 wheel drive OR (didn't even know they made them till I saw a great priced Tacoma.myself) or maybe had bad accident report.

I payed around market rate for mine because otherwise some one else would have got it no doubt. That's how it is in most places.

Op needs to just bite the bullet. I waited years, and Im starting to think prices will never go down. Only up up up.

I had the same issue. A national dealership that pays commission had an AC posted on FB. I inquired, was sent a link to a DC. When presented with this, the salesperson replied "Oh, right. I'll get that to you soon." They never did, and when I further inquired was told "Everyone is really busy right now." A week later I received a form "how was your experience" email; my reply spelled out what had happened, with screen prints of the dialog. No response.

I bought mine a couple months ago. 2018 TRD OF with 40k to get it off the lot after fees/tax I paid 34k down in Houston. Looking at trucks where I live up here in WA the same truck was selling for 40k. I couldn't pass it up.

26k for a 2018 4x4 v6 SR double cab with just a hair under 80k miles. Thought I did good until I realized it had the cab brake light fixture leak issue. Been in the dealership shop for almost 3 months now while they wait for a part.

The best time to buy a new ( or used ) vehicle is when you don't need it.

The wife was going on and on about me needing to buy a Tacoma.
WTF we had a 2012 Jeep Patriot ( manual ) with 40,000 miles on it the thing ran just fine.
    Was paid off years ago.
Her (bought new) 2017 Forester was paid off.

Why do I want a Tacoma, ... so I started snooping and looking and sniffing and kicking tires.
Took about 3 months of reading up, looking at all the trims, deciding on what we wanted ( what she wanted LOL ).

Then all hell broke loose and they were selling in a matter of hours -
I found one that met all the requirements and jumped on it in 2021.
It'll be paid off in a few months with 24,000 miles on it.

If I were a rich man I'd buy every low-mile 2023 I could find and just sit on 'em.
I want a Double Cab to compliment the Access Cab.

I've had this thought too; I think the late Gen3 Tacoma's are going to maintain their value especially well, even for a Taco.
And in 1970 it would have been fun and eventually profitable to visit every Plymouth dealer one could get to and buy their single Superbird allotment.
