Not hosed. It is 6 years old though. Age is a factor that often gets ignored in valuing these deals. I got less than that for my 2023 with 9K on it!

I paid 34k after tax for my 2018 TRD OR with 40k on it. Is yours a long bed? I think you did about as good as you can with those miles and that color, seems like a reasonable deal to me. Cement was my backup choice if I couldn't find one in Quicksand lol

But who bought it from you? A Dealer who immediately tossed 5K onto the price and flipped it?

Knowing that our trucks are holding their value makes it a little easier to justify spending the money (or time) to maintain them. My rig is in the shop for its 60K service that will lighten my wallet by close to 2K (USD).

BTW- I will post a detailed cost break-down and a couple of comparison quotes (on a new thread) when all is said and done.

Had a similar thing happen to me, at least the first part:

    - Saw a truck posted online at a dealer website.
    - Called about it, scheduled to go see it in a couple days.
    - Drove an hour and 20 to see it, but got there and it was "in the body shop". This actually made sense though since the pictures showed a long scratch in the side.
    - Salesman did his job though and sold me on a different truck.
    - Had an issue with the truck (nothing mechanically wrong, just didn't fit my needs). Drove it home, parked it, called dealer.
    - Spoke to sales, sales manager, customer relations over a couple days; worked out a deal wherein they essentially just tore up the first contract, and let me exchange the truck I bought for the one I initially went to see. They were listed at the exact same price to the dollar.
    - I like to think I made out though because the truck I initially wanted is what I ended up with which had fewer miles, bed cover, LED headlights.

Only time will tell if it was the right mechanical choice but I'm much happier with the truck I ended up with.

Dealers are quick to post new inventory, very slow to remove sold since, this promotes foot traffic.

Almost. But it was bare bones OR and not premium.

How much do you think a rebuilt title 2021 TRD OR Magnetic Grey 49k miles would sell for? Recently fixed one up and made a thread about wondering how much I can sell it for.

$22-26k depending on your market. Few salvage title 2021 TRD OR for $27,990 with lower miles than yours from dealers.

I noticed a dealer yesterday list some 3rd gens for around 40k and up. I didn't want to pay that for a new one. 3G is a good truck, you really have to like the 3G to pay that much for a used one.

Ouch, I stay away from the Stealership. I found a great local garage with a much lower overhead hourly rate, for things I can't/won't do.

Last 6 weeks looking at 5th gen 4runners as an addition, not to replace my OR. Going to keep the Tacoma. What I have learned, it seems to me anyway, is that the perceived, or real, reliability issues of these new gen Toyotas are having an impact on new car sales. This combined with the high price of new cars and rising insurance costs push the new inventory pricing to home mortgage territory. Yes, tariffs will have some affect, but when they say that the average new car payment is 700 dollars, with many over 1000 a month, it's no wonder used vehicles are becoming more attractive. They have pushed car loans up to 84 months. Don't take that bait. The race to being upside down on your car loan will be really quick, especially with the high interest rates we have had for a long time now.
