Just curious - I've heard some 16" rims won't clear the brake calipers on the new Tacos. What does the inside diameter need to be for an aftermarket rim to clear the calipers? I'm considering Ultra Baja Champ and the Procomp 7189 (or)7023 (or) 8179. Anyone got these on a 2010 4x4 Access Cab?

To answer your question any backspacing that is bigger than the stock, then you should be fine

16x8 and a 4.25" BS should be just fine... Pro Comps are awesome wheels

    wat?
there are lots of people running aftermarket 16's for our vehicles...also, if u are getting a 16x8 and want to run 32-33s then u'd need more along the lines of a 4.5" BS

I am in the middle of returning a set or rims to summit, do to the fact that the rims don’t clear the face of the caliper. It’s not so much the inside diameter of the rim.

That's what I'm learning, thanks for all the help guys. When they give a backspacing measurement, are they all given using the same reference? The calipers sit away from the hub a bit, and the wheel spokes seem to curve from the lugs out to where they meet the rim but I imagine they spokes don't all follow the same path on every wheel. I guess there's no real way to determine if the spoke shape / backspacing combo will work without trying the wheel on?

Thanks for that great link! So the big issue in wheel fit is the shape of the spokes and whether or not they clear the caliper overhang. If anyone knows that dimension offhand, cool - if not, I own a tape measure :)

    Smaller than stock, not bigger.

Correct me if I’m wrong but stock is 4.5 BS? I went with a 16X8, 4.25 BS with is smaller then stock and the rim did not fit.
