Insight on suspension upgrades when I get new bumper

    I'm buying a new front bumper next week and am considering doing some suspension upgrades while I'm at it. The guy said the bumper weighs in the range of 120 lbs. I don't want to sag much in my front end because of it and I'm looking into biting the bullit on some 5100's front and rear. The question I have is, do I need to get aftermarket coils as well to compensate for the added weight? Also what kind of coils do you guys suggest?

    Looks like about $150 for HS Coils. And about $175 for OME Coils.

    Not bad. Cheaper then I expected. I've seen people on here talking about ome 885,886,887. What's the real difference and what should I be getting for what weight I'm adding to it?

    Also, as we all know it's frowned upon, but I have a 3 inch readylift spacer underneath the front. Measurements acheived the full 3 inches when I put it on. When upgrading the shocks and coils should I remove this? And also, what would you guys suggest I do to keep the full 3 inches in the front?

    887s are same spring rate as 885s but slightly longer.

    Yes you most def should remove the spacer. Combining lift Coils with spacers are death to the shock. You won't have any down travel at all. Talk with Marie at Headstrong and she'll point you in a direction to which coil you should pick to achieve about 3" of lift with your bumper.

    Thanks man. I figured I should take the spacer out, just thought it never hurt to ask. I know spacers are frowned upon and all so that's another reason I'd like to go ahead and go with upgraded coils and springs so I could get rid of it and have a much better set up.

    Since I have the full 3 I've come to just love the way my truck looks as it sits now, so I'm just wanting to keep my truck looking the same height, with a better suspension underneath it. And with the added weight I wanna make sure I can still achieve that.

    With 120lb hanging off the front you'll want to get 886s with the top plates then. 887s will get you the lift but over time will sag.

    I just spent yesterday after noon looking into this. A combination of 5100s and 886, with a small top plate spacer will get you the lift you need. That being said there is a chance you will need new upper control arms (to be able to align) and diff drop kit. It all depends on the weight of the bumper/accessories, variances in the springs, and variances in the truck.

    It'll be close to 3" it's not an exact thing. Billies always set on 0 with OME since the coil provides the lift.
