I've been trying really hard for the whole evening....

:notsure: I just don't get it. The bubble is a smidge off and parallax doesn't help. Is that an OCD trigger for us less fortunate? And the black... stumped there too. Normally, I just keep my ignorance to myself until someone unknowingly enlightens me. But on this one, I gotta fall on the sword and say, "I don't get it".

I'm in a group on facebook for my area and a lot of people edit photos to shit and claim it's art. The photography is piss poor and I guess that's the only way they can feel validated is if it looks "creative". Personally I think the use of a camera and art of photography is to capture moments as they appear before your eyes and show the world what you see, where you see it, and how you see it with proper composition - not make something look like a painting. If you wanted a painting, maybe practice, gain some skill and paint instead of butchering an already bad photo of a bullrush on the side of a pond. There's no winning! :annoyed:

OK, I see your point. I think the difference in our perspectives has a lot to do with subject matter; 99.9% of our (mainly my wife's) photos are of the outdoors (camping and 'wheeling), typically of some pretty breath-taking places and/or trails. So, in that case, it's simply our goal to capture what we're seeing in person. Perhaps it's analogous to the journalism example used earlier in that we don't see our photos as artwork whereas yours have a definite artistic quality to them.

The turtles still line up at your door, right? And no Cease/Desist or restraining order yet?

Keep it private though. PETA will have a tofurkey if they find out.

Right on. And yeah, the journalistic approach is a lot of people's preference.

I'd say that I strive for art that I'm proud to put on my walls. But I really don't strive for anything. I more like low-key try for some stuff. But only when it's convenient. :D

I do manage quite a few wall hangers from time to time, despite my lackadaisical approach to it LOL

Those are great photos! Often our "journalistic" approach yields artistic results (none of the original pics are blurry, BTW). This is a great example, too, of a trip/trail/pic not being planned for "content" but providing great content nonetheless!

I like rear shots as well! Very nice point of view of the 67 Mustang! My photo's I try not to go nuts in post editing. It's really cool what you can do with the WB settings when capturing the photo originally. I just try to convey what my eye see's thru the lens. Do you have a site for your photography? I'd like to follow as you have some great shots.

I would like to get into track/racing photography but I'm not sure where to begin. There are two really great tracks near me, Barber Motorsports Park and Road Atlanta.

Been there many times. Probably be back up there in October for the vintage festival. I'd really like to get a press pass but I dunno if I need some kinda license for that or what

Just show up with a camera and start taking pictures. There are almost always areas where you can shoot without any sort of special access.

Love how the threads Google suggests blow up.
