I’ve parted out my 2006 SR5 and I have a potential buyer for the transmission. They have a 2008 2WD TRD; they are not looking to make in 4WD - just looking for a replacement trans.

    Would mine work?

If they wanted to bolt your 4wd transmission up, they would have to use your t case, driveshaft, and modify their transmission mount I believe.. but I’m sure someone with more knowledge will chime in

Why couldn't they just remove the Transfer case and use their tail housing?

Gotta change the output shaft . Trans would have to come all apart to do this .
If both trucks were 2 wheel drive , this swap would work fine

    Thanks for clearing this up.
All the clutches I've done were in 4WD trucks or tractor.
A of course a bunch of Honda front wheel drive cars.

Worst clutch I ever did was a 1996 Ranger 4x4.
I had a hell of a time getting the master cylinder blead.
Actually, I never did get it blead. It was my dad's.
    He finished that part.....

Fords were bad to bleed .
We use to Jack up the rear of the truck as high as we could get it and then let the slave gravity bleed .
This took an hour but worked very well .
In fact , we started doing this to all the vehicles that were difficult to bleed .
This changes the angle of the master cylinder thats mounted to the firewall
