Here is a breakdown of install of front and rear suspension. Dobinsons 220/314, icon rxt lead springs, dirt king heim uca, extended break lines, bump stops and diff. Drop kit. Also includes alignment. Does this look pretty reasonable to you all?

I'll be the first to say you can spend $500 on tools and a 4-6 hour day doing all of this yourself. It's not at all difficult and you'll have a bunch of tools at the end and the pride of having done the install yourself.

Alternate version: spending $1600 for suspension install is insane.

Seems stiff to me, but I've not paid anyone for suspension work. Ever.

But if you can't do it, or just don't want to, that's ok, and you're doing yourself a favor asking.

Do you know their hourly rate? Knowing that lets you figure out the hours they will be billing, and that will give folks a bit more clue as to what's up.

I'll go ahead and just WAG a high rate. Like about $175.

It can be done correctly, for a lot less IMHO.

this board is mostly filled with DIYers. that being said the price doesnt seem too bad but as other people said suspension work is pretty easy. generally you just take it off and put on the new stuff, its all bolts and nuts. if you dont feel comfortable then yeah get it done by a good shop.

Not sure on the price per hour but I'll ask them. I know I would drop it off on a Thursday morning and pick it up Friday evening

Thanks, this is pretty much the only off road shop. The guys are cool and they pretty much do all the raptor, tacomsas, Broncos etc. I feel comfortable with them doing the work. I can get the could and stuff done for around 250 but not sure I trust the shops that would be doing the work

    * and they warranty there work and pieces brought through them

That’s just for labor? Pretty high price in my book, all that work would take one day. Sure, they are bleeding the brakes and all that, but there’s nothing reasonable about that price IMO

Thats insane. For struts and coils I typically spend $300. Last time, UCAs, front shocks with springs and top hat, ucas, rear shocks I paid $700

Get a total of three quotes. Make sure you get it done right and not cheap. Fwiw I would install ot on my own, cus its not uncommon to rebuild your shocks eventually or add or remove a leaf

Seems a bit steep. This is like a 7 hour job or so. I would understand about $700…but not more. Would you be open to friends and people on the forum doing it for you? Just curious. If you were local to me, I would have done it by myself for $300, or be glad to help out.

11 hours at $125/hour. For a professional off-road shop that is a long ass time. maybe if I was in my garage and I don’t have the correct tools, 11 hours seems reasonable. But not for a shop. That’s just crazy. I swap my buddies 4Runner front bilsteins 5100 in about an hour.

Ok, I'm hearing all of you guys out and reconsidering shop choice. Does it make a travel that it's an extended travel setup?

That's 11 hours of labor. My new WAG is they are billing flat rate book time for the parts, not real time. Which if you make a living with wrenches is how you can be paid 60 hours for 40 hours of work as dear ole Dad used to be able to do.

There's nothing wrong with that process, as long as they aren't double dipping you on hours. IE for each component individually when some of them are already touched when doing another.

You can check that by asking for an estimate detail sheet.

Or you seem happy with the shop, so you can pay the bill and move on too.

Alignment is reasonable but the install feels a hair steep.

A local shop quoted 500 for mine, F+R, alignment included in price. And that also included taking off the front Bilsteins, setting the coils to a different clip, and reinstalling. Granted, I did not quote a diff drop or UCA swap.

Eventually I declined and did it myself. But that was my quote.
