Just removed the rack for winter. Here's how it is with the caps over the mounts.

What is the expected life of the silicone sealant and butyl pads? I'm contemplating the tracks but am wondering how long (if ever) before you would have to re-seal them?

Lifetime I would imagine. It's riveted in place so removing the tracks would be a chore. Nothing in the instructions that indicated resealing.

Had butyl tape/pads on a previous truck cap. Was on my truck for 11 years and when I removed the cap, the butyl was still flexible.

Thanks. I like the idea of having a track I can mount towers on anywhere and then just take them off when not in use. Would be even better if there was some sort of cover that could cover the tracks when there's no towers or other accessories mounted in them.

I also added a dab of silicone to the top of each rivet and bolt.

Safe to say other track-mount feet will work with these rails? I've got some Thule bars and Thule Podium feet...looks like the Thule 3101 fit kit might marry these up well.

I don't know. The mounts used square nuts that slid into the track. Tightened into position with bolts though the mounts.

Old thread I know but I just finished up this install on my 2014 DC TRD OR. I am super happy with the results, but the install is not a walk in the park.

    Pro tips I learned:
    - You need a bigger rivet gun than you think you do. I had to buy a new one from Harbor Freight just for this job
    - saving the rubber strip in the ditch is a pain, but makes the install look a lot cleaner. There is a lot of trimming required to get it to fit around the RR ditch brackets.

why not Prinsu, you ask? I looked hard into all the options and I wanted something quick and easy to put on and take off. I also love the quality and value of Rhino Rack products. They are not paying me, I am just a happy customer. I paid etrailer prices for all 4 racks and the camper shell track.

Overall, I would recommend, but they are not the cheapest option out there and the cab rack install is not for the faint of heart. I now have 12 more holes in my roof than I had this morning. I do have high confidence in the water tightness with butyl tape and a topping of silicone - it’s at least as good as the factory rack mount points - and all the racks are super sturdy.

Here is the rivet gun I used. It worked like a champ. The little Arrow hand squeeze one in my garage did not budge the rivets that came with the ditch mount brackets.
