Had a dealer quote me 20 hours ($3800) to install the TRD lift kit. This is the dealer I bought my '23 TRD OR from six weeks ago. I may just try and install it myself as I have all the tools.

Someone who has never installed suspension of any kind could do that job in less than 20 hours. Should be more like 8 hours for shop time. You can do the job yourself unless there's something special about the TRD kits that I don't recall.

Toyota lists 5 hours as the install time. You can cut them a couple of hours slack, but 20? I don't think so.

For that price you could get a better lift in my opinion. I just got done puting in a complete Dobinsons IMS Kit with SPC UPC and install with alingment for just under $4000.00 with install of new headlights. Talk to @Crikeymike at EXIT OFFROAD

After I told the service guy what I wanted a labor cost quote on he just says "Oh hold on" then comes back with that number. I had to have him repeat it to make sure I heard I right I asked him how they got that number and he just says "That's what my service manager said".

It could be 20 hours of you add 24pack of beer, bbq and a good friend that has no mechanical inclination..

it took me 8 hours first time, plain sun, no beer….

Right now like I said a complete replacement suspension plus extras cost just under $4000.00 on an 09 that was old tried and worn out.

How important is it to Calibrate the TSS? Say if you install the kit yourself do you still need to take it to the dealership for recalibration?

I took it from the old grill and with a lot of pain I installed it on the new one and plunger it back. No issues. It works.

@beaverpelt If you can turn a ratchet you can install this kit yourself. Ive swapped shocks on a 1st gen, Ive removed a spacer lift and installed 5100's front and back on a 2nd gen and did a complete 3rd gen suspension on to a second gen (leafs, rear shocks, and front coils and shocks). I did these all by myself in a home garage with set of tools, some jack stands and some floor jacks. There are alot of videos on You Tube that can show you how to do it. The rear is pretty easy, Im sure you can knock that out in no time. The front can get scary because of the coils. When did the front coils I rented the compressor from Oreilys. I was really skeptical but I took my time and got it done. Ive also removed the coils without a spring compressor, I do not recommend that you do this, its pretty sketchy. However, if you dont feel comfortable you can always remove your front shocks and coils as an assembly and take them to a local suspension shop and have them swap the coils for you.

Edit. I also forgot to mention, if you can find a set of used front low mileage TRD coils then you can take them and the front shocks to a local suspension shop and have them put the coils on. That way you can just swap the front assemblies out one for one.
