My new 2009 PreRunner is factory equipped for the XM Satellite Radio stuff but I didn't buy the system. How hard is it to install it?

    Oh!

I thought it was just a matter of paying them to enable some secret computer codes and then it worked.

My '09 is uspposed to be "XM ready" but i didn't actually get XM, as I'm not really interested in paying monthly for radio.

But I thought the hardware was all in there if you bought the AM/FM/CD changer.

XM? Ask for the "Winback 77" deal - 12 months of service for $77 USD..while they don't have that deal in .ca, I was able to get 6mos free, so I paid around $96 for the year :D

I believe you hit the "AM/SAT" and scroll to channel 00 or 01 or something and there should be a radio ID number. When you call to get XM they will need that ID number. Ask for the $77 deal and don't accept the deal if they tell you it's more.

$216 Cdn delivered. Spliced coax for truck antenna to Sirius antenna cable.
Sirius SCC1 tuner and ToySC1 command interface.
    Decent (not awesome) audio quality.
Volume (even with the level toggle) at max is ... well, good. Not loud.
    Overall pleased with the result.
Getting ergonomics of factory head unit, better than FM audio quality, 18 presets, not having to figure where to mount the controller like you would with the department store sirius/xm controller that uses the aux input.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I have Sirius account already in my current vehicle. The Tacoma that I may buy new has XM ready. Would I be able to rollover my account to the TACOMA since I have sirius already? I know they merged but hopefully its not a problem. Because I don't want an XM subscription. I have Sirius for Howard only. Thanks...

Toyota sells XM tuner for their satellite ready radios.
Doesn't necessarily mean the tuner is installed.
The truck has the antenna, and the radio has a sat button, and is sat ready.
The XM tuner is an option, and very $$ from the dealer.
Search the forum ... there is a really good writeup for installing a sirius tuner.
Also a writeup on installing the toyota XM tuner.
