I just picked up a used Kenwood DNX7100. Everything is there except the mounting sleeve. It probably was not used in the original installation. Is the mounting sleeve necessary for my installation?

In most cases with the tacomas the sleeve is not necessary. At least in the 15 or so head units I have installed in tacos.
