Took my truck to my dealer for their evaluation. They called me around noon and told me that even though their isn't a TSB issued for the 2016's they are going to replace the needle bearing under warranty. They were great to work with. It was stated by others that it shouldn't have been covered but because it is Toyota and the fact that I have purchased 3 vehicles with them already they took care of me. They have ordered the parts and I will take it back later this week for them to install the new part.

That sounds great, hope I have the same success as that. Got this truck because of how good my 1st gen has treated me, after issue is resolved hoping for the same success with this 3rd gen

I was a service manager and you sound like every other tech that feels that he is too good to do warranty work. Just have a seat and do nothing and someone else will do the job.

I'm doing the needle bearing tomorrow, will report back. If it doesn't work I'll be doing the solid bushing.

Also I will likely beat book time by 30% even though it pays 60% of customer pay :p

It pays to be good and experienced :)

I picked my truck up from the dealer today. The bushing worked no more noise or vibration! I agreed to pay for the bushing they charged me $60.00. I am so pumped! I drove it around 100 miles smooth as silk! Thanks to this thread and your help! Thanks everyone!

Yes they did the bushing. They went sure what the noise/vibration was and thought they fixed it once. It was the same when I picked it up. The dealer told me they thought it would go away. When I went back I showed my dealer this thread they offered to do the bushing. I did pay for the bushing since it's not a factory part they ate the labor. My lift was done by my dealer before I picked up my truck.

Just so you're aware, the 2016's come 'factory lifted' by an inch so to speak already. They are 1 inch higher than the 2nd generation. So while you went 2" you kinda technically have a 3" lift.....technically. :) You can only go 2" with lifts like Toytech and Icon on the 16's. I'm happy for you that they are doing it under warranty and fixing your problem. I think I may have the same issue on my non lifted 14'. I was playing with it today trying to get the smoothest road possible and shifting into 4WD. Problem with living in Alabama, nothing is smooth around here. I only really get it when I get up around 40-60 mph. Glad to see @scottalot and @Blackout14 helping you out. They are a good group of guys if you didn't already know that. Two of my go to folks.

As for that tech......he should read the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 which is what everyone is referencing on here. What you've done is very illegal and opens you up to significant litigation risk. Hope you don't get sued.....your statements made in this thread and no doubt cached on TW's servers would not serve you well in court.

    2016-01-14 Update

I got the call yesterday from the dealer telling me that the parts came in (Wednesday) and to schedule my truck for service. They said they had an opening on Thursday. So I dropped my truck off at 7:00 AM and received a call around 4:30 that it was ready for pickup. I met with my service writer and they showed me the invoice. They chose to replace the carrier assembly instead of doing the needle bearing swap. The part number they list on the invoice is 41110-35D70. This is listed as a $1,450 part!

    http://www.trdshop.com/oe-toyota/4111035d70

They serviced it under warranty at zero cost to me. I was willing to pay for the labor to swap out the bearing or bushing but my dealer stepped up and without a single argument from me they and took care of the problem.

My drive home was awesome. Smooth and no vibration or noise. So happy that everything worked out.

I bought 3 vehicles from this dealer within the last 3 years but I firmly believe that they would have done this for me if my '16 Tacoma was my first purchased. This is the true definition of taking care of their customers at 100%.

I was surprised that they swapped out the whole assembly. The reason that I was given was because they didn't want to tear out the old bearing and that the whole assembly was a better fix. I'm not going to argue with the shop and how they repair the problem. Bottom line is that they took care of their customer the best way that worked for them. I am happy with the end result.

While some posters here will actually turn down warranty claims for their own agenda, this dealer took care of me. I guess luck was on my side getting it covered for free but I would have paid for their shop time if asked.
