I took a 2.8l vr6 gti bored out to 3L 11:1 compression, 268 cams, head work balance/blueprinted bottom end, built transmission with quaife lsd into VW for a timing chain tensioner issue and they fixed under warranty. Why, because the motorwork that was done had zero to do with faulty factory parts not related to mods done. Aussie just being an ass for the sake of it in this thread. He neither works for or represents toyota, yet speaks as if he has some apparent knowledge of how toyota operates as well as blatantly says he turns down warranty work if a cars been modified.

Hell even audi covered my A6 UCA's under warranty when the car had been on air ride for sometime. Why, because their UCA's are shit and fail regularly on stock cars. Could they have denied the claim, quite possibly, but seeing as how the dealer liked my business and my money they did what was right.

A needle bearing issue that exists as a tsb on stock vehicles, isnt a denier for being lifted, when the dealer sells lifts. This is a rather simple issue. Its not like someone put a big turbo on a car and roasted the clutch.

So after reading 125 posts, note to self; if I'm planning a lift, complain about a vibration issue and have the dealer service the faulty bearing (under warranty) BEFORE doing the lift.

If that is what you took from the 125 posts on this subject then you should probably re-read the thread. Complaining to your dealer about a problem that hasn't occurred yet won't win you any favors from them. My situation took place after the lift kit and the problem existed. They stepped up and took care of the problem as many other dealers have done for a defective part.

So you don't know if you have the "problem", but you want them to replace a part without being able to verify the issue is present so that you can put a lift on that may have the exact same issue after the repair? Sounds like a solid, well thought out plan plan. While you're there, have them add some missiles to your truck at the same time, Bond, James Bond. :bikewheelie2:

Yes, pretty much. It's a shame that Toyota is selling trucks with parts they know are defective. My understanding is that the bearings that they are installing in the TSB are different from those that came with the whole assembly... Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Oh and a couple of Tommy guns behind that massive grill please.:quickdraw:

Yes the bearings are different but the dealer isn't going to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Keep in mind that not all trucks are affected with the vibration after a lift. Some lift their trucks .85 with zero problems. The higher you lift the more chances you will have with vibration issues due to the bearing IMO.

I guess it isn't good that Toyota is still selling trucks that have this issue but again very few have this problem without a lift kit installed. It would be a bigger issue if Toyota doesn't fix the problem on a vehicle after the problem happens. You will need to have the problem before a dealer will replace a defective part that isn't defective yet.

Mcdonalds fries make you fat and unhealthy but they arent going to stop selling them. From a corporate lever to enact a running change on a sub component level that might affect some small global percentage of vehicles is far costlier than simply replacing said parts at the retail level.

I took my truck in to the dealership, and my truck purred like a kitten. No humming, buzzing or any noise. They technicians took me for a test drive and we did not hear anything. WTF... It acted like it has never made that sound.:annoyed:

I have a 2016 DCSB with a 3" Toytec lift with the diff drop and I am experiencing the rubbing of the needle bearing on the drivers side. Goes away when the truck is put into 4H. My truck was lifted at the dealership. I assume they will make good on it. They have to call Toyota Corporate on Monday to get back with me. Options seem to be have them replace the needle bearing assembly, but I am concerned the problem will return. Or I could have them install the East Coast Gear Supply T8CS-BUSHING and be done with the whole matter. Not sure if the dealer would install a non-OEM fix. I need to confirm with ECGS the bushing will fit the 2016. Any thoughts?

Dude is your job here to be the dealership jerk or something? Magnuson-Moss Act requires a burden of proof from the manufacturer in regards to warranty work. Considering this part of the driveline on the 3rd Gen matches the 2nd Gen, AND there is already a TSB issued for the 2nd Gen a logical conclusion that the TSB will apply... Especially if an informed consumer pushes it.

You sound like a real dick to be honest, like the kind of guy with the kind of attitude that hurts dealerships in the long run.

Same issues with mine. It's intermittent. Installed Diff drop, and carrier bearing...the same. Still a noise.

Burden of proof is on the owner of the vehicle. If the affected system of the vehicle didn't come that way stock, I'm not covering it under warranty. I get paid half my labor rate on warranty work. I'm not running a charity. If you can afford to modify your vehicle, you can afford to pay out of pocket.

Every employee at my dealer has this attitude, and we are one of the biggest and most profitable in the region.

Its been said repeatedly but I'll say it again. You sound like an ignorant prick that doesn't give two shits about people and would take a dollar out of a tip jar. Refusing to do work for people out of some spiteful juvenile mindset - 'if you can afford to improve your truck, then you have to pay for things that should be free.' Taking advantage of people who won't stand up to your stance is deplorable. I bet you guys love seeing old widows pulling up who know nothing about vehicles and will pay whatever you tell them it costs because you're the supposed experts.

    just following MFR guidelines.

Why should a modified system be covered by warranty?

Be like someone buying a base Corvette and then putting a supercharger on it and saying "well, the z06 has one, it should still be covered by warranty"
