Oh gotcha, I don't remember off the top of my head. I had called Nitro and asked them myself and they explained it to me. They did however recommend the masterkit because they said a lot of parts are destroyed during the swap, so better to have all the parts than only some. But I dont do gears so i dont know.

@brianjjeffries, stock gears, I was at about 1600 rpms in 6th gear at 65 mph. But couldn't hold 6th gear very well above 65, always wanted to downshift.

Not 100% but I think I've decided on the 4.88's. I just need to find a shop willing to do the work. I found one down the road from me who wanted $1000 an axle, I was like damn, ill shop around. I'll probably throw in a Detroit TruTrac while it's all being done as well.

So if anyone knows a good gear guy in NOVA let me know.

That's way too much. No more than $2000 out the door, parts and labor.

2,000 RPM at 80 and it maintains it fine with our current socal conditions. High wind, it may downshift to 5th. I would rather have a gear setup where 2k is about 75mph as that is my average highway speed.. Unless the heavier tires etc cause the truck to struggle etc.

Is your speedo calibrated, if not, you're actually doing more like 85

I am all stock. Unless window tint counts as a mod.. I am just on here so I know what to gear my truck to when I do put wheels/tires.

    Way to much...but not enough.
Anyone have any recommendations of shops in the DFW area to do a gear install? I'll be pulling the trigger on 4.88's and an arb locker this spring.

That's put us guys with 33s right about 2000 rpm at what would be normal cruising speed for must of us. 65-70 mph or so. Not looking forward to laying out $2000 but I am looking forward to the end result.

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
Wear on other parts. When a moving component has been in service for an extended period of time it tends to get a wear pattern that matches the parts it is in contact with. Replacing on component with out the others could lead to complications from mismatched wear patterns.
