Are you ever going bigger than 265s?

Highly unlikely but not entirely out of the question either.

Well if your interested I have my 4.30 stock gears gathering dust with only 8k'ish miles on them and they will fit in your 8.75" rear diff and 8" front diff. They should suffice for you with 265s but you will need to buy master install kits from nitro to install them.

    https://www.nitro-gear.com/MKT8-75-p/mkt8.75.htm

    https://www.nitro-gear.com/MKT8S-R-p/mkt8s-r.htm

I'm selling them for less than half of what toyota wants for them ($650 plus shipping), Pm me if interested.

In total it would be $1450 which is about the close buying new nitro gears, but your not going to high in your gear ratio.

Won't I lose my E-locker if I use those gears? Or will it work with them?

It will work. They are the stock gears that come out of the manual trucks with the e-locker

I did this last summer at SD gear and axle. I do have a Sport so 8" rear. The 4.56s came from Nitro. My thinking at the time was there wasn't a lot of people that had made the modification yet since gears weren't readily available and I wanted the truck to not suck gas on long trips at highway speed (drive to Alaska and around BC) I was and am really happy with the results, but given what I know now and other's experiences, I would have definitely gone 4.88s and added lockers. But if, for whatever reason, you're stuck getting 4.56s, it was still a huge upgrade from the 3.91s.

Do y'all think that towing a camper would be a bit easier with 4.88s? I work construction and I'm about to start having to travel for work because the local shutdowns are almost over, and I don't want to have to rent a hotel every time I go somewhere.

It would bring you up to higher RPMS at freeway speeds which would mean more torque for accellerating/passing, but MPG would drop significantly on freeways.

My truck has 600 miles on it, I am doing nitro gears, my mechanic says since it's so new no need for master install kit? Should I be worried?

I wouldnt be worried. If he is good he can use whats there. its like 600-800 bucks.

nitro gears are 220 each and they are charging like 1250 just for the gears and a master kit

not for just gears.. only if youre doing gears and lockers.

I wish I could just do it myself. it would be so much cheaper

Agreed but Gear work is not something even a typical auto technician will dig into. There's a reason differential shops and specialists exist.

A bit confused here regarding gear ration and output.
    - 3.91 (stock) gives you more speed and less torque?
    - 4.88 gives you less speed and more torque?
How does it translate in driving feel the gear ratio? I understand the ratio is between the ring and pinion (one revolution of the ring means 3.91 revolutions of the pinion) and thus
    - takes the pinion to spin 3.91 times to turn the ring 1 time -> lower RPMs -> cooler engine -> faster speed
    - takes the pinion to spin 4.88 times to turn the ring 1 time -> higher RPMs -> hotter engine -> lower speed
What exactly is the gain or improvement in getting a 4.88 gear set?

Just regear. Toyota is replacing my rear diff so I only needed the front master kit, and a friend does all the CO guys gear work for pretty cheap.
