So after everything I’ve seen the 4.88’s will definitely be my next mod, I’m sure it’s in here somewhere but I don’t feel like looking, how much will my speedo change? I’m running 285/70/17’s. Also how does the truck do on cruise control? Does it still relentlessly hunt for gears or does it actually stay in 6th sometimes?

Lol I did the same with my SB after I installed the OVtune. 4.88s are next on my mod list after disc brake swap now, I can live with the power I have until then

More later on this since I’m in Oaxaca now for Christmas. Timewise, shipping is your deal both ways to Oklahoma City and the price for the service is $77/set. So, $154 plus shipping.
The time for the service was just a couple days for me. I’ll post company and address later when home or sooner if I can find it searching with this iPhone

I would ship it in styrofoam like the other one. But that is it. You would need a mini install kit to put them in a truck.

over 1000 posts and not a single video of anyone driving before and after? I appreciate the time people have taken in this thread to explain a lot of things but holy moly some of these tangents went way off course. Right now our truck is stock with the rev1 shifting TSB still drives like garbage, constant gear hunts (not here for people to pretend its not an issue, doubt anyone that has put in 4.88 would argue that anyway). Looking to throw gears at it so maybe it won't jump down to 4th every 2 minutes on the way to L.A. or bog down at 45mph while it tries to figure out if there is any other gear than 6th when I need to pass someone. We like the truck but want to lift it a couple inches and put 33"s on it eventually. i personally feel the factory drivetrain is poorly matched (motor to trans to final) in stock form in addition to that adding more rotating mass and putting it higher off the ground will only make that worse without doing something to put the motor near any thing that could be considered a powerband. I know people are doing the OV tune, SSP, sprint booster, etc but i don't really think those are much more than "feel good band-aids" i.e. they do very little to correct the poor choices Toyota made putting this motor, trans and final drive together. Basically, what RPM will the 4.88 yield on stock a OR at 75mph? Then the same thing with a 33" (255/85r16 and once lifted a 285/75r16)? I saw the calculator posted but I have two issues with that 1) i dont have excel 2) i'm looking for first hand experience. I feel like the gear change is worth it on a stock truck just to make it drive half decent around town and on the freeway or is my thought way off?

Recently regeared to 488. What’s everyone doing with their old gears? Is there a market for used gears? Wanna make up some cash if possible.

True 33in tire will run at 2090 at 70 or at least mine does. I run 255/85/16's and 4.88's. stays in 6th gear on level and small hills and 5 when it needs to downshifts up hills rarely goes into 4th anymore.

Quite a bit, it's only been a couple of weeks so don't know if the computer has had enough time to reset but I average about 15.3 overall. If you add the 8% difference for tire size back in I guess it's about 16 to 16.5 mpg. I used to get about 18 to 19 overall with the stock tires and the stock gears. The mpg drops the faster you go, above 70 it stinks. Love the way it drives and don't really care about the mileage. I tow a lot, haven't put on enough miles yet to know how that is going to work but has to be better than stock. I also have a toytec performance 2.5 kit that give me right at 2 inch lift so that is figured in also. Good luck!

Finally bit the bullet on the Nitro 4.88 gears. This truck needs them. Badly.
    Ordered from ECGS today.

In addition, I think REM's ISF surface refinishing process is an excellent idea considering the number of vibration/noise issues many are experiencing with these gears.

Once everything is installed and broken in properly, I will post a before and after because everybody likes those. Im guessing around early April-ish. Cheers!

I requested a quote for install, and inquired about the REM Polish, and was told "no" by ECGS.

No, ECGS does not. A few companies offer similar resurfacing, but after a little research, looks like REM's is both reasonably priced and effective.
